  • That custom Trump Punisher scarf with his own "K$H" logo. What a man-child.

  • All the people praising Luigi say "this does nothing" when someone suggests an alternative to just shooting CEOs. Well you know what did nothing? Shooting Brian Thompson did nothing. United Health Group just hired a new CEO to run his division, and the real oligarchs continued looting the country even harder than before.

So no, they don't feel threatened. The top oligarchs like Elon barely even registered it. If you wanna know what they're afraid of, look at where they spend money - buying politicians and opposing attempts to regulate them and break up their monopolies. Lucky for them there is no well funded lobby for consumers, people denied health care, or even the poor and middle class generally. Tell the next Luigi to work on that if you really wanna scare these people.

  • It's very hard to avoid buying stuff on Amazon even if we hate them. This provides a bit of extra motivation.

  • Teddy Roosevelt never said "The only good indian is a dead indian." That quote is typically associated with Philip Sheridan.

A number of sources claim a similar quote (“I don’t go so far as to think that the only good Indians are the dead Indians, but I believe nine out of every 10 are...") alleged to be from an 1886 speech in New York, but this still goes against how he treated native americans generally and I can't find the original speech so I'm a bit suspicious of this as well.

  • Casually saying crazy shit is actually about 90% of Trump's personality though. Still waiting for him to lock up Hilary.

  • Let's not keep making the mistake of assuming Trump's tweets have force of law. He's just talking out of his ass again, just like he's not actually invading greenland and canada. Notice how he's talking about at least 4 different actions here, I'm pretty sure none of which he can actually do. 5 if you count thanking us for our attention to this matter (?). If Trump tries to do anything in this regard no judge* will uphold it.

    *Obligatory other than Clarence Thomas

  • Except that whole thing about Dems being just as bad, which is like 90% of tankie arguments about the US.

  • When Ukraine's president surprisingly shifted towards Russia, the people engaged in civil disobedience until there was a new president.

    What will the US do?

  • Anyone who failed to beat Trump has to go away. No exceptions.

  • Why is this the question people are asking? It's a classic example of Republicans setting the narrative. I saw on a certain oft-promoted news aggregator that all the Republican news sources use the same words in reaction to the oval office event - "Zelensky refuses to apologize..."

So now that's what the mainstream media talks about, instead of the worrying Trump-Vance-Musk turn towards Russia.

  • That's not so much a murder stab as a flesh stab. To spell that out, it can be a metaphor for:

  • He boycotted Bud Light because they did a promotional campaign that included a trans influencer on instagram. The stock fell 20% and basically made LGBTQ-related promotions a no-go for corporate America since.

  • I will never have zelensky's patience and calmness. If I were in the room, everyone would be wondering who painted the oval office red.

  • That's not true, companies are plenty worried about this sort of thing. Look at how Bud light panicked over the kid rock boycott. If he can do it, anyone can.

  • Ok. Make it a consistent thing then. Starting today.

  • For one why limit it to the North Atlantic? Japan, South Korea, and Australia should get in on the action too. And France and the UK can help them all get nukes (yes I mean that seriously - US and Russia being the only large nuclear powers is a disaster). Now would be a great time for the stable democracies (not the US) to create a new alliance.

  • I disagree with both the premise and the conclusion. Even if skipping corporate stuff for a day is only a mild inconvenience, that is still obviously not convenient. Second, there's no reason to suspect convenience should strongly impact effectiveness. How much did it inconvenience anyone to boycott South Africa in the 80s?

Maximizing effectiveness for unit of effort is smart. And when a tiny change in share price can make a big difference in CEO compensation, we'd be complete masochists not to use that in our favor. But also even if you're into maximizing pain, if we wanna talk about permanently going after these corporations then it's gotta start somewhere. And it's best to start with getting people to do what's easy.
