  • As the famous quote goes,

“One of the most horrible features of war is that all the war-propaganda, all the screaming and lies and hatred, comes invariably from people who are not fighting.”

  • Russian losses in the war with Ukraine - (archived version)

Mediazona, working with the BBC’s Russian service and a team of volunteers, has been compiling and maintaining a named list of the Russian military dead. The list is built from publicly available, verifiable sources, such as social media posts by relatives, reports in local media, and statements from regional authorities. Of course, this list is not exhaustive, as not every death is publicly reported.

    Addition:

The invisible army. Russian courts recognise nearly 90,000 missing soldiers as wartime claims surge

Russian courts have now received almost 90,000 claims to declare missing servicemen dead or missing, a dramatic rise that began only in mid-2024 and continues to accelerate. Courts are processing such cases far faster than we can confirm individual deaths, revealing the scale of losses the state has never publicly acknowledged.

  • The first steps have long been done by Russia. And it was not in love.

  • Is there a bit more data? What is this source?

And what is a "non-official BYD car"? Where do they get the numbers from?

  • “It is totally clear that this piece of legislation will not just go through without any amendments,” MEP Bernd Lange, the Parliament’s lead negotiator, told Euractiv on Friday.

We'll see how this ends. Tariffs on US farm products are not a so important as they are around 1% on average, this is next to nothing. Industrial good imports are more pressing issues, although the much bigger problem often here is the flood of cheap imports from China (e.g., steel) rather than imports from the the U.S.

The parliament will have the final say, and its lead negotiator appears to have a realistic stance imho.

  • Just look at OP's post history. This is not about 'news' but aims to make Europe look bad while supporting Russia and China.

  • This Belgium party has been conveying Russian narratives for almost 4 years now, and it refuses to condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This is just a Russian puppet.

  • Many of these left-wing (and right-wing) groups are paid and supported by Russia and China (just look at Germany's AfD recent verdict, some lawsuits are still ongoing). They convey Russian talking points.

  • There is no other option than a complete defeat of Russia under Putin. Any other solution will only lead to more war in Ukraine and beyond.

  • The Workers' Party of Belgium (PTB-PVDA) is a Marxist and socialist political party in Belgium.

The party abstained from the vote condemning the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine in the Chamber of Representatives. According to PTB MP Nabil Boukili, "the diplomatic way is the only possible way to avoid a war".

This is pure propaganda, and it comes from the East.

    Addition:

The examination of ... the Workers’ Party of Belgium (PVDA) reveals significant concerns about their alignment with foreign interests, particularly Russian.

PVDA’s abstentions on key votes condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its connections with Russian-affiliated organizations raise alarms. The party’s rhetoric often mirrors Russian propaganda, undermining the integrity of Belgian politics. Leaders such as Marc Botenga and Jos D’Haese have engaged in activities that align with Russian interests, casting doubt on the party’s commitment to Belgian sovereignty.

  • Is this the breaking news of the day in Europe or just another advertisement for China to earn the 50 cents?

  • I respectfully disagree.

The only chance for a 'just' and lasting peace in Ukraine and Europe is a a complete defeat of Putin's Russia. Everything else doesn't end the war but will extend it.

Russia must leave the whole of Ukraine.

  • Good. I hope France and the EU will also investigate Deepseek and other Chinese tech for the denial of the Tiananmen Square Massacre and other atrocities.

  • And sadly, there is a community here on Lemmy who is believing this dumbshit ...

  • Marriage of Convenience: How European Far-Right and Far-Left Discovered China

European far-right and far-left political parties, though ideologically opposed, are finding common ground in their alignments with China, echoing Beijing’s narratives and raising concerns about foreign influence and manipulation ...

[European far-right parties] prioritize economic pragmatism and national sovereignty. These parties argue that decoupling from China or imposing economic sanctions harms European economies, advocating instead for stronger economic cooperation with Beijing. They view China as a crucial trading partner and a counterbalance to US influence, frequently criticizing the EU for its alignment with Washington on foreign policy issues ...

Far-left parties ... approach China from an entirely different ideological framework, rooted in critiques of Western imperialism and neoliberalism. They accuse the EU and the US of hypocrisy, using human rights as a geopolitical tool to undermine China while ignoring their own failures. The far-left views China’s state-led economic model as an alternative to the neoliberal capitalist paradigm, lauding its emphasis on state planning and development. Skeptical of militarized policies, far-left groups also advocate for dialogue and cooperation rather than confrontation. They tend to resist efforts to isolate Beijing, framing such moves as exacerbating global tensions and hindering progress on critical issues like climate change ...
