Don't comment on it and just post the art -> some people enjoy the art, a whole lot of people skip past it, while the only people who understand the significance of the image are those who know the reality of the wealthy making bank with dispensaries while the prison industrial complex harshly punishes Black people at much higher rates than their white counterparts for non-violent drug offenses.
Comment on the fact there there is something going on in the image -> fewer people are skipping past the image because they want to know what the secret is, and when they can't discover it, their curiosity takes them into the comments to find out. In doing so, they learn something they didn't know about the state of affairs, and a non-zero percentage of them will begin to speak up and advocate for those incarcerated under an unjust legal system.
It isn't about the art; it's about boosting the signal.
Right? And also...who needs space between two homes if there are no lawns? Just moosh all the outer walls together.
Come to think of it...that's gonna result in a ridiculously long line of houses. Maybe we could moosh roofs and bottom floors and stack 'em up a bit to make the line of houses only a half to a third as long, and then leave a little space between Consecutive House Stacks™️ - y'know, so that there'll room for more windows.
Karp being a "milkshake duck" refers to a June 2016 tweet from Aussie cartoonist Ben Ward which read
The whole internet loves Milkshake Duck, a lovely duck that drinks milkshakes! 5 seconds later We regret to inform you the duck is racist
It gave a name to the phenomenon of seemingly harmless individuals' sordid pasts being called out after a brief brush with fame.
On March 24, 2021, Twitter user @BudrykZack tweeted "Shrimp Cereal Topanga Husband is a MeToo milkshake duck". The accompanying image is taken from an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation called Darmok and is of the character named Darmok who is a member of the Tamarian species which speaks only in metaphors.
"MeToo" refers to the worldwide Me Too movement, that began in 2017, through which survivors of sexual assault and victims of sexual harrassment - mostly women - have come forward to announce their victimhood in order to bring to light how common such assaults are and to demand an end to rape culture.
My favorite piece of text from a few years ago that I was disgusted to be able to parse was "Shrimp cereal Topanga husband is a Me Too milkshake duck."
I taught last year in a district near Dallas, TX where 70% of students were on a free or reduced lunch plan. This year, I am teaching in a district near Portland, OR where breakfast and lunch is free for every student, as it should be.
You're not the weird ones. I used to have joint accounts with my then-wife, but I'll never do that again. Mainly because I will never marry again (ridiculous concept if you ask me - the government charging you money so that they can approve your relationship is bananas to me, and then paying them more to dissolve it if it doesn't work out), but also because I haven't met many people out there who manage their own money well, so why would I ever put them in a position of control over the money I earn?
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas flag. Students are required under state law to recite both pledges once per school day. Yes, I know it is a gross violation of students' 1st Amendment right to freedom of speech, but Texas does whatever the fuck it wants.
In my heart, I knew this comment would already be here.
