  • Norway? More like Snoreway... Kenya's where the giraffes are, and the zebra; Kenya believe it?

  • I used to develop code for reading barcodes, and dealing with pixel aspect ratio was always annoying. It was one of those cases where 99.9% of images were square, but that tail always made for weird cases that had to be accounted for. Good times.

  • I need to append /s to my future silly replies I think... that said, I'll never pooh-pooh a well thought response, so thanks for the nice write-up!

  • But of course -- It's just flipping around the -= operator!

  • Looks almost like a sandhill crane, or other type of crane.. wonder what bird it is.

  • I was just about to mention exactly these games!

Outer Wilds' ending was, to me, a beautiful meditation on confronting loss, the ending of things, and coming to peace with it.

Shadowbringers was along a similar theme. It was interesting emphasizing with Emet, and yet still realizing he's wrong ("cool motive, still interdimensional genocide"). It was a combination of feeling unbearably sad for him, and yet thankful for stopping him. Also, seeing Ardbert during the camera pan in the Crystarium at the end.

Endwalker's final walk had to have been designed in a lab to generate waterworks. What an experience.

  • Man, I love this guy's videos. He's got the most pleasantly chill voice (think Australian Bob Ross) and shows a great mastery of the things he makes. Highly recommended channel.

  • AlphaEvolve legit just discovered a faster method of 4x4 matrix multiplication (1 fewer multiply), and that's a subject that's had a ton of eyes on it for decades. It's pretty impressive actually!

  • I can't help but notice that the area with the largest 1 year change in housing prices in Florida is right where the hurricanes hit last year...

  • sharks first [sic] Damn you swipe keyboard!

  • Good ol' Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Discovered it with bananas as a child, apple as a teen, and the following as a young adult: peaches, pears, apricots, kiwifruit, cherries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, to name a few. It was weird how each fruit would effectively just flip a switch randomly during my development.

That said, cooking the fruit denatures the proteins, so eg. apple pie is great!

  • Number 1 would have to be:

    • Triosphere (prog/power?). Ida is utterly amazing.

Some others I didn't see in this thread are:

    • Ebony Ark (prog/power)
    • To Mera (prog)
    • Without Face (prog/goth metal?)
    • Mystik (speed)
  • If an iron and coal mine love each other a whole lot...

  • I'm still crying because Martyr broke up ages ago, how can they do this to me now!

  • I've definitely caught myself writing cumTotal += value; in my code before.

  • I'm exceedingly loving the combat design in Dawntrail, so I guess they took some good lessons from EW. That said, I do think CoD P2 is a bit too difficult for what they were aiming for. Two phases of P1 difficulty (mostly personal responsibility & quick reactions) or even very slightly harder, would be absolutely perfect for PF.

  • projects/[rust|cpp|python|..]/proj-name

  • Exactly same. Gf & I got into it a few weeks ago and just caught up to current. We're champing at the bit to see what happens next.

    Jade #1!
