As I do not live in Iran I only have a partial picture of the current situation. My guess is that these protests express a real anger in the masses in Iran at their situation that's brewing for a long time already. They probably want to position themselves in the movement rather than let it be overtaken by imperialist and reactionary forces. I trust them to have a better understanding of the situation than I can.
I've also read the reports about outgoing telephone lines being reopened. I don't know whether it is the end or a pause in the protests that will kick back in a few days/week.
In any case, I hope that if the current government falls it won't be replaced by an even more reactionary one or worse nothing at all. This would be catastrophic for the people in Iran, Palestine and the region.
I tend to agree with their take especially the 12.01 statement. The peoples protests where justified in light of the atrocious economic state of Iran mostly due to western sanctions and made worse by the Islamic republic neoliberal policies.
These were however quickly coopted by organized groups from the entity and the us. Some officials from there even directly admitted to it (Pompeo statement or Haaretz article stating the entity's goal of reinstalling a monarchy).
I think the way to go for organized progressive and socialist forces in the country is to denounce any foreign intervention and make every effort to organize the masses to strongly reject any recuperation of their movements and to strongly emphasize sovereignty, such as was done in the South Pars labor protests (as pointed out by @AlHouthi4President@lemmy.ml). Any other way might lead to a Syria failed state situation which would be way worse than the current Islamic Republic situation.
For people like myself living in parts of the empire we should denounce western sanctions and organize to push for their removal. Only when the Iranian people will be free of sanctions and foreign intervention, will the material conditions for a progressive transition be possible. In the current state I dont see how the current government would lessen the pressure on their people, without at the same time Iran losing their soveignty and end up in a way worse situation.
Thanks I’ll read Nkrumah’s book and the article on Kim Jong Il thought. Prolewiki article was missing mentions of Luxemburg’s text however. If this is because her definition is considered incomplete or otherwise I’d at least would like to read criticism about it.
I’ve been using nixos for the past 4 years (I haven’t tried Lix yet). It was a steep learning curve and I sometimes have to deal with some bullshit because some app that’s not available in nixpkgs expects a FHS system. It’s a lot of fun and I wouldn’t go back, but not sure I’d suggest it to someone who does not want to invest a fair bit of time into learning nix.
edit: I don’t have a lot of contact with the nix community as a whole. I maintain some packages in nixpkgs because I needed them so won’t be able to comment on this side of things.
Is there some Long form written essay or video explaining the whole Russo-Ukrainian conflict? I have lost the whole picture on it. It all gets muddy in my head since there were so many different stuff happening and also being bombarded by propaganda in my own country does not make it easier to get a clear picture. I am also particularly interested in how it shapes relations between the EU and the USA and what do Russia, EU and USA want to get out of all this.
I'd be glad if the essay was not written by a chud as I can't bear to read their idealist fantasies anymore for this year. A Marxist analysis would be great.
Never used pleroma, but poa.st is a neonazi/fascist instance. Their instance data was leaked a few years ago and just looking at the DMs leaked and the wordcloud it was even more vile than their usual racist posting.
Just like most western leftists nowadays crash and fail the "soft left to electoral socdem" plyometric box, because they use language too close to marxists, the pain supremacy aspect of liberal zionism is also something they also fail at, it sounds too "benign" and feels "just".
Could you expand on that with some examples please ? my non native English speaking ass does not understand this part. I checked what's a plyometric box but dont understand the analogy
Just looking at the thread it seems more like they think trump is to be blamed entirely as if he himself forced companies to make their fan zones not free and it can't be because the US is the most depraved capitalist country in the world.
Yeah GW2 is also buy to play, that feels like a rarity in MMOs.
Ah ranger definitely not for me, I hate the concepts of pets! Although runes/insignias look really cheap for them, that's nice for experimenting with builds!
Thanks for the analysis!
