Just like with US politics, I think (hope) this was a wake up call that alternatives are needed and that maybe so much heavy use of one platform controlled by one nutbag CEO isn’t a good thing. It has been a pretty good platform overall (has its warts, but is very flexible, has a huge developer community, and actively developed/maintained), but the drama over the past year has been the nail in the coffin for me. It’s not something I’m ever going to recommend to my superiors or potential clients as a solid, long term solution to content management.
True, but I enjoyed the other content that was in this community and didn’t add it to see a nonstop flood of Archie comics. To each their own, I guess. Maybe that’s what this community wants, which is fine (just not for me).
Paraglider pilot here. A paraglider would be literally the worst way to invade/attack/terrorist-whatever any target. You need the right wind conditions to launch (or you have to have someone tow you up, but that only gets you so high); if there are no thermals, you can’t travel any kind of distance (unless your target is on a coastal ridge with onshore wind); you pretty much have to “attack” during the day (for above reasons); you move incredibly slowly (trim speed for your average wing is around 25-3mph); and you need both hands to operate the controls (I guess you could have a tandem passenger to work the weapons or whatever, but then you’re 2 people for every one weapon you have). Paramotors (paraglider plus big ass fan) makes all of this even less ideal, since you’re still very slow moving, and you’re loud.
In conclusion, this lady is a nutcase and badly needs a hobby.
Last I checked, CA was fourth, BUT we do participate in our federal govt and both give and receive from that arrangement, so hard to say that if CA was completely independent of that what the numbers would actually show.
All I want is tagging of URLs (using pinboard and some OS apps for that), but would prefer to just have them stored locally (and I can choose how to back them up) instead of relying on a cloud service. Anything out there that fits the bill? Also, a nice Firefox plugin for tagging plus searching those would be nice.
In the US, so free health insurance for those making under 100k for 6 months (or likely less - whenever the money runs out). Maybe that would give enough people a taste of universal healthcare that they would start voting for policies that get us closer to that.
Hudson Hawk gets a 5.7, which I think is criminal.
