  • I've been running the same matrix instance since ubuntu 18.04lts, just upgraded the virtual machine along the ride, so that has to be +6 years it's been running 24/7.

    I have not once rebooted my server due to performance reasons (like a mem leak). And like last 4 years I've ran the instance virtualized on a hp thin client, lately on a hp t640.

    While I understand the criticism towards synapse being a complex and slow, and element being slow-ish, I don't feel justified saying synapse would need any restarts in general. At least I have never restarted it in 6+ years and my instance has been working without those required restarts.

    Yeah, I miss the irc, too. I still use it via my matrix instance.

  • Yeah, this happens a lot in the US. Like "it's only a few km's walk to the store, so I'll walk there" and the sidewalks are unmainted and full of thrash, there are no crosswalks, and you cant enter any malls via sidewalks. It's an absolute contrast to anywhere else in the world.

    No one walks anywhere in the US apart from city centers.

  • Now, I've been on and off 4chan for 20 years. Nah, never have I paid for pass, but I really hope they'll be back.

    I've always liked the anonymity, in the good and the bad. There's a place for it.

    It's sometimes brutally honest, sometimes full of lies. It's all up to reader - there's no karma, no rewards for posters.

    I have led this kind of it projects, it wouldnt be that big of a deal to organize a team to tackle the probs. Lets see how it goes

    I was paying for a family subscription for a major audiobook provider for a while. That changed after I used a 3rd party app to listen to their audiobooks and apparently broke their eula, and they were threatening to sue me and my 7 year old kid for it. Kinda killed the spirit to pay for their service.

  • I've had my fold3 over three years now. Once a year the inner screen protector has to replaced, that costs something like 25 euros. Apart that, the concept is great and I've had zero probs. As my phone is already like 4 years old overall, the camera on it not that great nowadays, especially in low light.
