This was my thought as well. A lot of what has come to light feels like he may have been more than a customer for Epstein and possibly a supplier via his businesses and Russian criminal contacts
2025 and the US seems to need "underground railroad 2.0" to protect against such abuse. I hope that the current political nutbags are overthrown we seem some real trials with real consequences.
I'd mostly agree, although there are a number of institutions that were previously providing more balanced services and "saw green" to focus more on international revenue and might need to scale back as well.
Best thing is just to remove the changes that allowed international students to work off campus (and increase policing of those hiring illegally). That particular change really seems to have been a tipping point for the system
It used to be. Now it's bringing in people from India who have taken a loan or borrowed from family in order to get into a diploma mill, whilst actually working for an abusive boss in the "service industry"
Not just young men. I'm in the 40+ range and Canadian yet still have at least one friend who's getting his info from something like Fox and numerous relatives who seem to have succumbed to the brain-worm since Covid
Yeah, and slots are limited. So if you get a 4x smaller sticks - i.e. 8+8+8+8 for 32Gb, and find you need 64gb+ then you need to pull out the existing sticks in order to make room for 4x16 or 2x32 etc
I sometimes wonder if this was intentional - fanning ridiculous theories such as "space lasers" - in order to make it easier to discredit other/future criticism. The Republicans have been using similar tactics for awhile now,.
I previously played with just Steam and there's basically one setting to enable - allowing the install of non-native games - and then (for supported games) it's pretty much the same as Windows. In some cases you need to select the Proton version but generally using "latest" does the trick.
There are games that require Proton-GE to work. These were essentially ones where Valve's Proton version doesn't have workarounds for various DRM etc (likely because doing so would get them in trouble). On Steam Deck this is done by pretty much going into the local Appstore in "desktop mode" to install. Other distros may vary.
For non-Steam games it's a bit more of a pain, and can vary widely by game. I've installed a ton either just by running the Windows installer from Wine or scripts provided by Lutris.
Honestly if you've got the cash and want to try things, grab a Deck and give that a shot. If it works for you, take the leap to Linux on PC. Alternatively on PC, add/resize a disk and go dual-boot. The guided installers on Ubuntu variants generally make this pretty easy.
Yeah I honestly found the timing of that suspicious given Bibi's trials coming up and plummeting popularity at the time.
I could see the same with 9/11. Various people didn't need to actually be involved with terrorism so much as "let it happen" and plan on how to profit from the response
I built a small set of scripts to decrypt when the initrd starts and can load from a file in the initrd (from separate volume), EFI, or various combinations of passphrase in GRUB. The main intent isn't to keep out somebody with physical access to the machine and sufficient time but rather makes it a lot easier to make the data unrecoverable when the drive is disposed of.
Given all the rest of the terrible shit going on, I can. In fact the big surprise is that they declined. Wonder how that might go with the Texas case
