    feddit.org's Zionist bar problem: community ban(s) vote

  • I find it extremely unreasonable that strictly anti-zionist grad is defederated, while feddit.org with its pro-zionist administration (not just some users) has to deal only with half-measures like defederation of a few communities. And i'm not advocating against defederation from grad (since this wasn't an arbitrary decision of db0 admins but the result of the governance vote), i'm advocating for total, instance level defederation from feddit.org.

  • After reading the original post, one might assume that the community in question is !asklemmy@lemmy.ml , but after checking the modlog it becomes clear that deal is about !asklemmy@lemmy.world

    Since there are no deleted comments in the modlog, there are two options: either .world moderators are now protecting all the .ml narratives and it's PTB then, or this comment was such low quality shitposting that is was unacceptable even by .world standards, and in this case it's clear YDI if not YDM.

  • The linked article is nothing more than incompetent, bad-faith fearmongering. It has already been debunked in this comment. Long story short: literally every request mentioned in this article is blocked by any ad blocker with default settings, which you should be using anyway.

  • Regarding the original comment, I don't believe it deserves deletion, let alone a lifetime ban. In my opinion, it was written in good faith and is in no way propaganda. As for the Crimethinc article, it's clearly not "imperialist propaganda" as well, but rather wishful thinking. If you read it carefully, you can easily conclude that there is no third "leftist" option for Iran, since the article fails to do the most important thing – name those "leftist orgs in Iran" that could have a real impact and that "need international solidarity now". When Iran truly could have taken a different path – in the late 1970s and early 1980s – there were many diverse leftist organizations, ranging from Tudeh to MEK, from Fadaiyan-e-Khalq to Sarbedaran, that waged open war against both the Shah's and the Ayatollahs' regimes. Nothing like that exists now, and the Crimethinc article actually confirms this, regardless of the authors' intentions. So, in modern Iran, there is nothing but a few left-leaning individuals with very limited ability to influence anything, and the choice is only between a brutal theocracy and a Trump-loving shahzadeh.

  • It's difficult to discuss PTB here, because after a quick glance at the community in question, you'll easily find that it's not a place for discussing Ukrainian affairs, but simply a propaganda cesspool dedicated to parroting certain talking points. Therefore, I have no idea why you expected a different outcome.

    On the other hand, it's quite interesting to note that, while it's obvious to everyone that you don't need to have any sympathy for Maduro to condemn Trump's actions, any opposition to Putin's actions is magically inseparable from efforts to whitewash nazi crap.
