  • Not trying to start any measuring contest, but what I've learned is that there are always people out there that does things 100x more than I do. So yes, 1500 Docker composes are a thing, and I've witnessed some composes with over 10k lines.

  • Linux kernel or distros?

Assuming distros, my pain point is that it is not popular. For Linux to actually take over, UI/UX for everything without a single touch of CLI (akin to Windows and Mac OS) needs to be normalised. And everything just needs to work (see LTT), be snappy/instant (looking at you file browsers, Firefox, etc.), and use established behavioural norms within Windows and Mac (looking at you middle click paste, and it not being a universal scroll) as basics. Just give any distro to any Asian population. They won't even be able to figure out how to type their own language as if they are exiting Vim.

  • There isn't any public evidence that Chomsky participated in the sexual acts. It was purely professional, intellectual, social, and technical interactions. Also no one is accusing him.

Generally it's people jumping to conclusions because of simple interactions, but they can be unrelated to Epstein's ring.

  • Oh I thought it was sub domains for localhost. I actually wonder now if that's possible.

  • Save you a click: because of speakers, cameras, and batteries

Kind of ridiculous take -- this is assuming that all phone users care about and prioritise these 3 features out of millions features the smartphone provide

  • Nice curated list! I think I'll check some of them out for my own self hosted solution

  • I don't understand, what do you envision the disadvantage is over tradition axel wheels? It's cheaper and easier to repair because you don't have to fix the entire axel, but just fix one. Also, each of the four motors are cheaper than one combined one, for both sunk costs and upkeep costs. What matters is the consistency between the four motors.

  • It's to help your thesis be more sound and robust.

  • Yes, go on, tell me how much of an expert you are, even though you neither speak the language and nor experienced life in Japan.

I lived in both western Europe and Japan, multiple cities. Life is great in both places. You highlighted few metrics that Japan is worse in. Can you do the same with western Europe? Otherwise, you sound ridiculously biased and delusional as the Internet expert.

  • Any particular recommendation?

  • Yes, Japan, economy that almost surpassed US, has fallen that low to be compared to western Europe. 🙄

  • Japan and Korea must be wastelands

  • Weird, not exactly the implication that I know of.

  • Didn't know cURL supports so many protocols

  • Interesting, might want to make a cookie cutter research toolset

  • Nice!

For someone unfamiliar, can you explain why someone would host PDFs? Are there any organisations that already do this?

Also, what would be the difference between this and pdf.js (e.g. Firefox viewer) when it comes to the viewer?

  • Anywhere to petition or digitally sign?

  • Don't use Bol. They rip you off exactly the same as Amazon, even though you find the exact same product from exact same factory listed on Temu/Ali at 10% of the cost.

I generally recommend to avoid Dutch retail. East European retails tend to be more efficient, though still not as efficient as the Chinese.

  • It's due to Palantir and co, lobbying various European governments in recent years. Look at which EU governments are Palantir's clients.

  • Games @lemmy.world

I feel these companies stole my money by delisting game, and I'm sure others feel the same. Nobody is sure if the EU will get the law passed. So it got me thinking -- why not revive games together?

  • Open Source @lemmy.ml

Is there still no open source alternative to replacing Google Play Services?
