Not sure if this is his exact motive or not, but its pretty obvious that this would buy back some good will he's lost with some of his followers or people who don't pay attention to politics. People get angry, then get a check and then calm down a bit. For where I live, a $2000 check would maybe cover most of rent for a low-mid range 1 bedroom apartment for a month, but that's it.
For other people in the country, presumably where more of his followers live, that could be like 3 months of rent. Its also not his personal money he'd be losing, its ours. He's just forcing the public to spend their own tax money on a Band-Aid for his terrible economic policies, while it hilariously gets taxed again in the form of 'income' for each individual.
Well thats shitty, i also didn't realize freecycle was an organization or entity that had legal rights to the name, thought it was similar to what I originally thought buy-nothing was, just a term used to easily describe the intention of the group.
Back in college when I was more active on Craigslist, they called it freecycle. I always wondered why and where buy-nothing came from, as I was extremely familiar with the term freecycle already.
Are there any mapping apps thats not google maps that has traffic data? I haven't looked in a while, but last time I did it was a 'no' and I'm just shocked this hasn't really been solved. Either by highjacking google maps data, or using local news data to fill in areas of maps with heavy traffic etc. There's gotta be some way to solve this.
Like I get it, projects can't just wholesale use google maps data, they'll get shut down, but there's no side loaded plugin you can load to use Google's traffic data and the project just kind of winks in their github page and says 'we don't encourage anyone to use this plugin...'?
He'll meet them, he could buy all the Tesla's himself and it'd probably still be cheaper than the payout package he's offered at the end. Not to mention he won't have to, the police departments are starting to buy them.
Thanks Intuit. Absolutely not using TurboTax ever again since I learned they lobbied to maintain the complicated tax code so they get to keep selling their software.
Before going all in on Proton, just make sure you're okay with the ceo's statements on politics. To some people its enough to not switch over, to others its unfortunate but the product is too good not to switch, to others that encourages them to switch so.. 🤷
Just wanted to make sure you were at least aware of his political stance before fully migrating.
sigh the naming of these projects... I know if you've been paying attention to development projects then the similarities in naming helps you, you can assume 1 project was forked from another and vaguely already know what the project does, is used for, etc. But for nontechnical newbies I'm sure its confusing as hell having like 4 products all named similarly and you have no idea why or what the difference is and which one to choose.
Anyway, thanks for spelling it out, for anyone confused.
Also an option, you can use some password managers to store 2FA codes. I use KeePassXC to store the 2FA codes and then sync the database across devices with syncthing, but you could use nextcloud or google drive, etc whatever you'd like to sync. That way you don't need your phone at all for this task.
You seem to know about flatpak so I thought i'd ask this question here, since I couldn't find much searching online. I'm messing around with postmarketos (which is alpine Linux based and using wayland) at the moment on an old phone, and installed a flatpak version of Joplin. Problem is I can't get the onscreen keyboard to be triggered when an input field has focus. Any tips to fix this? I'm not sure if its a problem with my set up, or how the flatpak was prepared. So not sure what to do to fix it.
I will admit, this makes sense, up to a point. I have 2 pixel 4a's just sitting in a drawer because the screens got damaged, showing just a black screen. And it was the same price or cheaper to buy another used phone than buy just the screen for it, $120+ in most cases on eBay, when i was looking. So I bought another, newer phone instead of fixing the device, for around the same price.
Ah yes, democrats. Known for their nationalist sloagn's like "Support the troops" and "America First!" And "Make America Great Again!" am I forgetting any others? There has to be some around Reagan and Nixon's time I'm forgetting.
People don't try cleaning their charging port before buying a new device? Thats crazy. I really have a hard time believing people don't try cleaning before buying a new device.
