I searched the page for Gene Sharp, there’s no direct mention in the article but they’re talking about the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict, which is more than close enough.

11·3 months agoMy comrade tried to reiterate that our leftist friend might want to examine the sources to their claims, but is unfortunately most with a “just because they oppose the US doesn’t make North Korea not a horrible dictatorship.”
This paragraph is interesting technology, it raised my blood pressure remotely. Well, it’s more respectable to just admit when you don’t know something, I wish people would do this more. I keep running into the same kind of stuff with people’s attitudes about Maduro, Iran, etc.

World News@lemmygrad.ml•Invasion of Venezuela - Megathread (use for all Venezuela-related news until further notice)
9·3 months agoYeah I don’t think it’s “hyping up US super soldiers” or whatever to recognize how the US has decisive technical advantages that allowed it to pull off this cowardly surprise attack. I’m reserving judgment on how much of the US operation’s success was due to intentional stand-down orders from traitors in Venezuela vs. the decisive role of US electronic warfare (ECM and infrared jammers), cyberattacks, air defense suppression (air-launched anti-radiation missiles and gunship escorts) and just the plain element of surprise of helicopters flying nap-of-the-earth at night over rugged terrain. There had to have been CIA infiltrators though, I think we’re in the process of finding out.

6·7 months agoThe foundational mindset of Trotskyism is factional infighting. At their very core their motivation is “I don’t like this other faction”.
When Trots don’t get what they want in an org they tend to go into war mode, they fight and fight and fight until they get what they want or split the org. MLs on the other hand are much more likely to put up with shit that they’re unhappy about in order to get other stuff done. The mindset and core motivation of the MLs is wanting to get something done, the mindset of the Trots is wanting to get everything their way specifically.
This isn’t to say that other groups of leftists don’t degrade into factionalism or split. But that Trots split much more than any other group in the left because the foundational motivation they have for being a Trot in the first place is factionalism.
Nailed it with this in my experience. Also the factionalism is done with cries of anti-factionalism.

GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•I was reading about the atomic bombings the other day [no graphic descriptions in post]
5·7 months agoIt’s a pretty cut-and-dry warcrime/atrocity. Even if Japan had hypothetically somehow been directly responsible for every other atrocity committed between 1940-1945, collective punishment of a civilian population is still a crime and Truman is still a criminal.
