  • I don't think theres any amount of scientific study thats going to change the loud minority of people who are anti transitioning. They would look at this study and see that the brainwashing is complete, and "they" could do it to anyone, and the people studied aren't to be trusted.

The only evidence I need to support the medical consensus is to see that suicidal ideation rates are lower in people who transition that have gender dysphoria, and the handful of sad boys I knew who are now happy girls post transition.

  • Did all "nazis" actively do crimes against humanity? Whats the bar they have to hit to be a nazi? Put on a uniform? shoot a roma? say non-aryans are sub human? You want to draw a bright line between national socialists and racists, I'm not going to stop you, but I think nazi is just short hand for bootlicking people who enable the dehumanizing of others at this point in time.

    What word would you prefer?

  • I can't say you're wrong, I just think theres a line between can and can't removes discretion. Given the budget and produce to make nice healthy meals, the school hopefully try to get kids healthy food. But sometimes a sad kid needs an oreo, or a kid needs shelf stable food to eat over the weekend, let the locals do it and not ban all garbage food.

  • I don't think you're coming from a bad place, I just feel like there are competing interests between whats good for kids physically and economicaly (long term) vs short term (mentally). We want schools to do both, and ideally with healthy great food. but I'm sure you have needs for terrible food sometimes, judgement free, and denying that comfort and calories because you think they should like better food, doesn't feel great. ideally, healthy whole local food...but also some baby steps into it maybe?

  • I have mixed feelings on this. Multiple family members worked in public schools, and a lot of kids want garbage processed foods. They know and like fruit loops and gold fish. They also like tomatoes and fresh fruit sometimes, but sometimes they just want comfort foods. I fully support healthy options and funding school lunches to the point they are delicious and nutritious, but you gotta meet some of these kids where they are, not where you want them to be.

  • Maybe. Maybe some are too deep, but you don't need all of them. The margins are tight enough converting a few percentage to agree with a public option is enough to make it happen.

  • They are sooooo close. Yes, our system of health care, which requires private partnerships that need to profit is the problem. And, the current party in power is exacerbating that issue. Theses people can be brought into the fold if you don't spend your time doing victory laps for being right. End of the day they are still humans that deserve health care, regardless of if they voted "wrong".

  • Y'all wilding out. Uber, lyft, AAA - those are paid services. If your car is randomly breaking down in a parking lot, you probably don't have a lot of money, people with money don't drive unreliable cars. I mean sure, maybe they left the dome light on for hours, but I doubt it.

Yes its insane you can't find affordable housing close to stores. Yes needing a car sucks.

  • bummer...i see berry and asparagus prices down now...

  • I'm going to sound like a hater, but the food in season and local is what you should be eating, and that will always be the cheapest. If you're talking processed food brands and shit in boxes in the middle of the store, I'd argue none of it is worth the extra money, its all bad for you, stop. That said, the frozen arby's curley fries are bomb, and no one does cheesey things like cheetos or smartfood.

  • Stallman eats things off his feet, is a terminal creep around women, and a terrible songwriter. But he's been correct about software licensing, how companies will use and abuse Free software, and enormously consistent about it over the years.

So yeah, he kinda sucks, but when he talks about licensing and freedom, I listen.

  • Anyone who figured out messaging beyond "Look how bad Trump is, even Bush republicans won't vote for him" probably wins that election. No one had a broad vision to latch for sale, and no one did anything inspiring.

  • A lot of places self insure, but some already buy insurance as you describe. Qualified immunity is a pretty high bar to get over, but some people do get settlements. I'd argue insurance should have to be bought by the officer, or their union to have any effect on their behavior.
