The same thing can be said about the Hawaiians and Samoans and the Chamorros. These are colonized peoples with a relevant and significant problems caused overwhelmingly by the mistreatment of the US government. Tony Hinchcliffe and all other ignorant puppets are irrelevant. Stop giving attention to the wrong things. PR has real issues that need to be addressed today, and they lack real representation due to poor policy. These are things we can do something about. Who cares about some rally, who actually watches this bullshit.
Find it pretty ironic that so many people are suddenly shocked and appalled at a roast comedian making a joke about Puerto Rico, calling him racist, when the Boricuas aren’t a specific race, it’s a nationality. Saying how appalled they are that the republicans would allow such a bad comedian to say a joke in such bad taste, as though saying shocking ignorant things is something new for that group.
While at the same time completely disregarding how the United States on both sides of the political spectrum has completely taken advantage of, corrupted and destroyed the islands of Puerto Rico, all while not allowing for the same level of political representation. Feels pretty hypocritical to me.
This comedian just said exactly how the US treats the people and lands of Puerto Rico, like trash…

He said that while there was a push from academia about 30-40 years ago to refer to indigenous peoples as Native American, he said that has been completely abandoned. The reason being is that the actual Native Americans don’t consider themselves American, nor does Indian describe them as these are Anglo Colonizer words.
When referring to themselves they will either go by the name of their tribe or they say they are Indian, because when they speak English they use English words to describe themselves.

I think there is some confusion here between copyright and patent, similar in concept but legally exclusive. Tech companies are operated like any other company and have a wide range of employees. Also not every tech position is highly employable. I know from personal experience in tech middle management that many employees are very easy to replace and have very common skill sets that are oversaturated in the market. I think the issue here is there is the rule book and then there is the reality we all live in. Like when you tell an adult as a kid you’re being picked on at school and they say “just tell the teacher”.
Sometimes the situation doesn’t work out in your favor when you play by the rules.
It could be argued that this person feared for her life because the man that was abusing her was caught and now free and he blames her. If he is intent on finding a way to murder her, a restraining order won’t stop him.
So in her mind it’s either play by the rules and allow for the potential of having this man murder her at any moment, living with this thought every day of her life or take care of this problem herself and deal with the consequences which is spend time in prison alive or live in fear of death.
I honestly sympathize and understand where this might be less revenge and more pre meditated self preservation.
