This time tonight, I didn't get to see a good view from the North, but I saw many reflection flashes from the trees and nearby buildings ya know. But.. Practically zero thunder...
It seems different than distant lightning though, as you can loosely calculate distant lightning by the time it takes the thunder to arrive, 5 seconds delay is approximately equal to 1 mile..
Well what do they expect in a world where a new toaster or fridge has to connect to the internet to track everything you eat and more, only to fail in less than a year and not even be covered by warranty..
When grandma's toaster and fridge from 1978 still work fine, do exactly what they were designed to do and only what they were designed to do, and the only repairs they needed were when the toaster got hit by lightning in 1987 and needed a new fuse and the fridge needed new door seals back in 2003...

Seriously, what ever happened to designing simple products (that don't spy on you no less) to last practically forever?
I only lived within walking distance of two airports, one of them an international airport, and the other lightweight airport flew their planes right over our house.
So I'll pretend I don't know anything if that makes you happy. Those of us on the ground learn the real rules when planes start crashing in your back yard..
Edit: This comment coming from someone that actually applied to refuel airplanes at the local international airport. No they didn't hire me, they probably figured me as a corporate risk, as I had too much experience seeing planes crash, not too far behind our house.
You're using actual reasoning, while dismissing my edit of corporate greed reasoning. You better believe, especially in capitalist USA, they'd just as soon charge you $10 a fart if they could..
The closest thing to a 'weekend home' where I'm from is when you visit an old out of town friend on Friday evening and get too wasted to drive home until Sunday afternoon 😂🤣
I removed the fish from my bladder, obviously, he's typing these comments.
