  • When covid started and seeing news reports of many people dying I was so scared. They had no idea what it was then or any infection vectors. I recall seeing something from Italy and it was horrific. This was maybe early spring late or winter 2020 (maybe I got the country wrong but I don't think so). Anyone who could have seen that and not understood what that means has no right to an opinion on the impact of viruses or on how a society needs to be run. Mean didn't NYC have freezer trucks at one point?

Man we have degenerated as a society to let that happen in the world's strongest military power (mean we can't all have the propaganda might Russia does). But sure let's give the person who did the worst a welcome mat to the Presidential position again. Ugh I thought we could have learned better.

I am not American but understand the impacts the orange dictator does in his name (only say it that way cause his brain is no better than potato salad, fuck project 2025 and Miller).

But long but this whole world situation is very frustrating. Like it's right there for everyone to see but let's blame neighbors not the people who've been in charge.

Edit forgot to add, as scared as I was I made a decision to do the best for my household, when reccomdations came through I followed them as best I could. I wanted to make sure the people I cared about were safe. It's a shame that many of the people who figured that out are shunned these days.

  • Mon fransais est mal mais je parles en l'anglais...I hope that's okay.

That's horrible and the only shining light may be that Putin embarrassed Trump enough with his recent meeting with India and China he may actually do something in retaliation. Hopefully spend more to assist Ukraine though I don't think Trump likes Ukraine after impeachment number 1. Also I hope we as Canada do more too but we don't have as much money. It is a terrible act that needs a noticeable action.

Course we know who Trump admires and unfortunately the US has the largest purse to make the biggest difference.

  • I think serious replies if the question was serious are not applicable here. This is a millionaire funded by billionaires. He's not serious, even Jon Stewart got him to remove his usual bow tie after a verbal spanking that would make nuns proud. He has no grounds to be serious, he's fanning flames for the olichary or whomever pays him to have more power.

I don't have references for any of this except the crossfire but where Stewart put him in his place. Dude's confused look seems like he's surprised at his own farts.

  • Misquote or not, it's a worthwhile one. I'm not religious in the least, but always thought the ideal of love your neighbor was a pretty good one. Even if they make noise after late hours and annoy you for reasons not just cause they are from a different culture.

Also yes I'm sure there are many quotes in the Bible that say otherwise but I think the idea of Christianity and new testament sort of surpassed many of those quotes. Not that many consider that, and I'm sure there's new testament quotes that go against it but I'll be honest I only was taught it in elementary and a bit middle school.

We need to get along if we have so many people around, is the idea I imagine. Not that they could imagine the cities of today.

Also Buddha's teachings are quite nice too. They have their issues, don't let their issues cause you distress but be helpful if you're able to. Least that's what I took of his teachings, also a good philosophy, least I think so. I did listen to a lot of Buddhist sermons and perhaps took some of them wrong but he appeared to be more live and let live, help others if they would like it, if not then no worries. If only all religions were similar to that.

  • I've rewritten much of my code as needs changed, I call myself an idiot a lot since I've worked on this program nearly a decade and was my first professional software so often change old code I wrote. Though it was more additional at first since I used a lot of code the lead programmer did. Though he duplicated everything as needed for a tiny change ugh. Least I know how not to do it.

  • I highly recommend everyone to read up on Feynman, he is absolutely one of the genius that you can read about for modern times (well probably Hawking too). He gave me the urge to understand calculus and even if I never got there (I will probably try till I die because I wish I understood the world in a similar way), I so wish I could understand it 1/10 of he did. Also the biographies and other stories show how much he loves what he did, if we only could have many more with such interest in science. Mean maybe we do I don't read science journals but his drive I think shows a lot.

  • Is that not all old 'hard drives' like before SSD ones or did I misrecall something? Like anything with a platter. Anything newer would be solid state right? Maybe I was more commercial drives, did have that in my background but it's been a decade now heh.

  • That sounds like a challenge to Hollywood. Though I'd put Starship Troopers up there too, haven't scrolled enough to see it mentioned but I assume it is.

Edit okay I did now and it's not mentioned. While a fun movie it doesn't have nearly the same story that the book does. Still I'll watch it for what it is, but doesn't have the same tone or scenes the book does.

  • Oh I was thinking more about bad springs and arms than the platters themselves for that part (okay I'm not sure why or if I saw but I believe the old ones used springs in some function maybe the arms so quite old memory at this point don't quote me), the moveable stuff that can wear out easier. A more specialized repair if possible, not the platters themselves though without losing the data.

  • There are USB and sata floppy drives. As for tech support? If it doesn't work then warranty or replace, there isn't much else you do with drives beyond that for modern drives either (unless I've missed something by not paying attention for years). I may be wrong on the last point, think some hard drives may be repairable but don't think it was common for consumer level stuff. The worst case is probably a stuck disk that loses it's protector then gets replaced, both the drive and the disk when copied over.

  • Wait is that why his hands are so small?

  • $160 bribe too, like is that all they expect? Go out to dinner one night or something for a single bribe heh.

  • Of course he's the 13rh apostle.

  • I don't like making fun of appearances and all...but that dude is a giant asshole. So guess it's good it looks like he can go fuck himself.

  • Actually never realized it could taste different in different seasons since I mostly just used concentrate if it bothered with OJ. I'd say I should try more but I already consume more calories than needed anyways so I think my only Florida enjoyment will be when I watch Golden Girls.

Also aren't most fruit juices high in sugar these days? Least anything you buy in a bottle.

Not that fruit is bad but drinking what would take pounds of fruit to make a glass (I don't know exact amounts) does come with some some calories via sugar / carbs. An orange sliced up is probably pretty good overall still, but I'm not a nutritionist.

  • I recall as a new driver (1997?) my insurance was cheaper in BC the after moving back to Alberta (early 2000ish) it went up, then it slowly went down to less than before. Moved back to BC (late 2000s) and it was more again, but not a ton. Just stating my experience I've been back in BC for quite awhile, I think what I pay is fair, around $120 a month now. Also yes I have liked there are rebates for sure that would bring down the monthly price but didn't factor that in, I sort of forget what they were but maybe $100 or so, so close to a month's payment. I always thought BC insurance was more fair overall even if I paid more sometimes. Think it was the premium for under 25 yr olds paid in Alberta that made it more for rather than actual claims needed which I sort of get but let people's driving set the amount not necessarily their age.

  • Man, I get you're down and all, but seriously look at random couples like people holding hands in public picss randomly but not necessarily the focus of the shots. People of all types find someone who wants to be with them. The attitude you have is unfortunately very unattractive but if you decide to be (and like) yourself and maybe not focus on the fact you haven't found anyone but are open to meeting new people, it'll probably happen.

You probably need some time to accept yourself who you are, enjoy your life and it'll come out that you have many positive traits. Mean I don't know you so I can't say for 100% but standard attractiveness isn't as big of a deal for many if they find someone they click with. It goes both ways of course, I may have not ended up with a model but I found someone kind, caring, funny and into many similar interests (maybe not all but that's rare too) and we've been quite happy for many years.

In the end South Park sort of said it in the movie, chicks dig confidence (unsure if exact line). Not necessarily the confidence to be a jerk and and act like a douche but knowing yourself and being comfortable with who you are.

  • Should never be referred to as anything other!

Like didn't we learn anything? Well maybe not the royal we but the peasant we...you know the group who has a lot more people to be heard. Ugh the world is going to hell in a handbasket.
