  • Tell me about it.

  • Google seems to think that unauthorized apps on android devices are most prevalent in the four countries mentioned.

  • I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you're doing better now.

  • The way I'm understanding it is, some F-Droid apps will still work, but their developer would have to be "verified", whatever that entails. I'm not sure what will happen if one tried to installed an app with an unverified developer, but it probably won't be anything good.

Whatever the case, this won't affect most of us (sorry Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand) until 2027. I have a phone running LineageOS and will continue to use it until it gives out, but my next phone will definitely not be running android, because I am so done with this crap.

  • Also gambling.

I can't believe I completely forgot about the gambling aspect, good call. The trailer for NBA 2k20 was especially disgusting in this regard.

  • FIFA, NBA, Madden or any popular sports game, really. Just to start off, I don't like sports games in general, but that's on me. The part I don't understand is the level of hype for each new iteration when for the last decade it's been the same game with the same engine, same effects, slightly different roster and sometimes even missing features. Like, what are people excited for exactly? More of the same?

  • Nah, I'm no quick learner. In fact, it took Google screwing up multiple times before I decided to delete my account. I was just less tolerant to their mistakes than most people, I suppose.

  • I lack the wit, so I can't rhyme for shit.

  • Some ornithologists seeing this comment will be very disappointed.

  • Deleted my google account about 10 years ago. No "experiences" to speak of, you just have to go in knowing that you'll lose online access to everything Google: mail, calendar, youtube, etc. But that's what Google Takeout is for.

As for your last question: No, I don't. Lack of trust is why is wiped my Google account in the first place.

  • Wow, same banner and everything. The BBC article has more material, too. Thanks for spotting this.

  • Hey, baby. Are you a traffic light? Because I'm getting mixed signals.

  • Sorry, replying late. Yes, I do play games on my HTPC, though lately I've mostly been using to watch things through Kodi. Kodi does indeed work well with a keyboard, so good luck on your project!

  • I have it on my HTPC and Steam Deck. It's good! Simple to use, simple to set up, no complaints.

  • If their glasses make you "super intelligent" when you put them on, then maybe they should put on their own product and finish school? That was my line of thinking, until I got to this part of the article:

Ardayfio called the glasses “the first real step towards vibe thinking.”

...and then I realized I have no idea what the hell they're talking about and stopped reading.

  • They're just being considerate to people that are hard of hearing, so they yell in the comments so they are easier to listen to. I mean, obviously.

  • I'll assume you're new to Debian, so apologies if this is not true. The reason I say this is because generally speaking, "installing with wget" isn't how one is supposed to install software in Debian, using a program called apt is. yt-dlp is available in Debian 13's repositories. What I suggest doing is running apt install yt-dlp as root. That way the app will be installed globally, meaning it'll work without the system spitting out the error you've described. And on another positive note, the app will get updated automatically whenever you upgrade the system.

If this isn't for you, suggestions from other users here are valid and helpful.

  • Not defending Paradox's scummy business practices in any way, but by and large Paradox games' DLC usually came after their games have been out for a while. What's happening with VtM:B2 is a whole other level of shit.

  • How about parents supervise their own kids them-fuckin'-selves?
