That sounds like a solid plan :)

You can filter it in the apps.
ICloudpd to get the photos from the cloud.
Photosync app to sync photos to a share. This app is awesome. I think to sync full photos it’s a one time 5$ payment. I’ve synced 70,000 photos and videos so I know it’s worth it.
Check the lemmy support channels for better answers.
My first thought was why have another instance instead of just making the communities. But then having another instance is great to push back against the centralization through the big instances.
Having a non-English instance sounds great and with a fun focus but I really wonder how much traction you would get. Might try to broader your focus, maybe be Spanish focused first and those be your focused communities? Being the home to Spanish speaking lemmy users sounds great :)
Or am I just blending together your stream of consciousness writing and not getting your goals?
Also, I would personally federate with everyone until you find a reason not to. It’s a shame that many admins have walked off those they disagree with.
I went NC, seafile, NC for the same reasons. NC is way too bloated but it does file sync well.
Seafile is lightning fast but I don’t feel comfortable only being able to access files through their apps.
it was the devterm that has cellular
Yes but you can’t access them outside of seafile, which is a downside for me
I meant unlike! Thanks
All of your files are now in a proprietary directory unlike nextcloud, enjoy
I wouldn’t mess with the federal government personally
Then honestly you must live in some radically conservative country.
Db0 is the best instance with the least friction from mods and admins.
I highly recommend getting them to access your sites over VPN not publicly then you don’t have to worry about this at all. For services that don’t have 2fa you can route the services from NPM to authentik. Then in authentik you have another password and can setup 2fa. Authentik is awesome.
You will be shocked how many times your sites are attacked by bots per day. Think five thousand plus.
You can also use fail2ban to block those IPs.
backup your data and configs. Run docker. Run portainer to manage docker compose. Make a stack for each container and deploy. Use Nginx-proxy-manager to manage routing your domains. Open the ports on your router to NPM. If public run strong passwords and 2fa. If private but with local ssl you can use your local ip and it works the same, at least via cloudflare and npm.
Radio lab is great :)
I would love to know some Chinese one’s too
very true sadly
