  • Well, after reading the whole thing.. they have equally bad things to say about Russia and China, so I don't think the article is written by a tankie. And even tho I disagree with their claims that Europe is sabotaging the peace talks in Ukraine (it's obvious to most people that russia doesn't wanna give up the land that they've taken and Ukraine isn't happy to concede it either), I also can't say for sure that they're not. World leaders are known to be lying cunts and it wouldn't surprise me to hear that they are indeed doing that. They probably think it's a good thing that Russia is spending so much time and resources in Ukraine.

  • Well, since niche in this thread seems to mean anything that came out more than 2-3 years ago and is less popular than GoT or the office, I'll just nominate Chuck, Derry Girls and Banshee. If I were to stretch it even more I'd also say After Life and Ted Lasso(I've already watched this 3 times in the last 2 years.. and I could watch it again without problems but I don't wanna get sick of it)

  • Awesome series but niche? It's an HBO series that's on pretty much every list of the best series of all time. I'd hardly call that niche.

  • Depends what you mean by recent. I'm not even someone that plays with music, unless it's an rpg or some other genre with a lot of talking, I just turn it off because I prefer listening to my own music.

    But to answer your question, world of warcraft, Baldur's gate3, clair obscur, Stardew valley, tropico 6, doom, hotline Miami, pretty much all the supergiant games, outer wilds, Cuphead, celeste, witcher 3, ac black flag + odyssey (fucking love those shanties).

    And that's just off the top of my head and from games I've played. I'm sure there's tons more.

    Edit: just as I pressed the post button I remembered how I'm always super hype for new civ games because they always have good soundtracks. Except for this lastest one, haven't played this one.

  • I think people are jumping to the beating part but ignoring the rest. The thought process usually goes like "wow, my parents would've spanked me for doing that.. but they're not doing anything!"

    It's not about the beating. It's about the kid being allowed to do whatever without any action from the parent. Because that's usually how it goes when a kid is being a nuisance.

  • Cheaters aren't only aimbots. In fact, most of the time they're not even using aimbot because that's one of the easiest one to tell that someone is cheating. Most of the time they can just see everyone through walls. But if it's cheater vs cheater and they don't care about being caught then it's not fun or interesting because you just use aim + speed + noclip (I assume that's possible) and just kill everyone the second the round starts.

    Here is an example of a different person in the same thread who also didn't know who the artist was. They somehow managed to be on topic and illicit positive replies.

    Yes, it's a forum for people to talk and ask questions. But you've gotta realise that there's a right and a wrong way to go about it. If you're gonna post something useless that can easily be answered by typing the name in a search bar, the least you can do is be nice about it.

  • Yeah, that's fair enough about Subnautica. Might be worth trying with a trainer or something to just bypass the grinding and still experience the rest, tho.

    As for outer wilds.. Definitely worth giving it a shot, imo. The first bit is indeed a bit long, but shouldn't be longer than an hour, tbh. And after that the game autosaves quite often and even when you quit, afaik. Should be more than fine for short sessions.

  • Alien: isolation? Pretty good horror game, imo. SOMA? Subnautica can be pretty scary,. especially for people with thalassophobia or however it's spelled... Outer wilds? Not horror, but it is quite unsettling. Also an all around amazing game that everyone should experience, imo.

  • I meant more in the sense that every decision you make needs to at the very least take the kid into consideration. When you have a kid it makes everything more expensive, it changes where and how you go on holiday, it changes where and how you go out to eat, etc. When you change careers you risk leaving a kid homeless, not just yourself. When you move to a different country you're forcing that kid to adapt, not just yourself. Etc.

  • Okay, yeah, I see what you mean. I was thinking on the scale of this thread not the whole sociological perspective. And you're right, they were probably not thinking of adoption like I was. Altho to link it to a guy who endorses the forced extinction of all life on Earth is a bit of a stretch, imo. Those people don't care about overpopulation... they would think that even if there were only 100 million of us on earth.

    There's a difference between saying that more people should use contraceptives and promoting genocide, imo.

  • Which part? I agree with both. If you decide to have a kid, you should do your best to be there for them and help them be the best that they can be. You don't really get to stay in bed late anymore if the kid is hungry. You have to do what's best for them, not what you want anymore.

    As for the "too many humans" part, I don't really feel ready for a kid but if I were, I'd rather adopt. I don't need the kid to look like me and that way you make the world a little better.
