  • Domino's or one of those big pizza companies should become an online gambling company, where people bet that the pizza they want won't come to their homes within a specific time limit. If they are right, they earn money, if they are wrong they loose that money.

Then they can just triple the price of every pizza to make it even better for the shareholders.

  • I think they already confirmed it's not fairphone

  • Now that Steam is experimenting with FEX to run x86 games on AMR Linux with the Steam Frame, I think there actually is a chance of smaller, more power efficient, steam deck like device that can run (lighter) desktop games.

  • According to the article:

driven by a slew of supportive policy measures to boost consumption, stabilize employment and increase household income

This is huge, the Chinese government seems to be moving it's focus on growing internal consumption with sensible policies that are already showing results.

  • Allegedly:

Goblin mode:It's a type of behaviour which is unapologetically self-indulgent, lazy, slovenly, or greedy, typically in a way that rejects social norms or expectations.

Gremlin mode:The idea of gremlins seems to have originated from WWII, when pilots and mechanics would use it to jokingly refer to problems with their planes. [Gremlins are] Ones that seems to revel in mischief and chaos. Usually they have a sort of wicked or inhuman little laugh, while doing it.

  • Also I don't think I used ";" properly ?

  • Hey, so, I always like it whenever I find album/song recommendations on Hexbear, so this morning, after seeing this post, I decided to give "More Constant Than the Gods" by SubRosa a listen.I started listening to the first song and I have to say that it started great, like a good album that I would listen to a few more times and then who knows, I was listening the first two songs for the first time and I was enjoying my time.

Then I had to get out of the house to go to work, so I take my wireless headphones and keep the music going, as I approach the metro station, the third song "Cosey Mo" starts (keep in mind that the first two together are 25min, that's why I was still at the third one), I get to the platform and the metro is right there, slowing down and stopping at my station (lucky me for not having to wait I guess). That said, as I'm getting into the car of the train, I see that mine has an issue with the lights, instead of being the classic strong, cold white, office like light, it was almost dark, with only a feeble red light being emitted. I guess that light was maybe the emergency light for when the normal, more powerful light, doesn't work ? Anyway that doesn't stop me from sitting down on an available seat and prepare to wait for my stop in a few minutes.

Then the doors close, the train starts gaining speed, and as we exit the station, my train car is quickly engulfed by darkness, with nothing but that feeble red light. And here, as I was inside the metro, moving in darkness, occasionally interrupted by either another train, with fully working lights, passing by; or by a station as I was surrounded by the noise of the wheels on the rails, and the brakes, and the vibration of all this movement; and the music, playing in my hears, all of this things started to combine together into a unique vibe that is hard to describe with words. All of it became part of a symphony and I suddenly felt like I was inside the song, living both here and there at the same time, in unison. There was no more metro moving and making noise, there was no more darkness and lighting, there was no more music, but rather, for lack of better words, I just felt for a moment, as if there was harmony between all of this things and they were one.

It was an interesting thing that, while I tried, I probably didn't to a good job of describing.

  • The boss wants to sit down with us troublemakers, and we figure we might as well. It's not going to sway us from our goal, if anything, it will be another chance to slap the boss around again.

Actually I have to say that when I tried to unionize my office togheter with some collegues (we were in the very early stages of trying to figure what we needed to do), the manager requested a meeting with all of us "troublemakers" (only the ones they knew where getting involved in lamenting the low wages) and I have to say that (after a group meeting and some individual meetings) they succeeded in stopping, at least for the time, the "energy" of the movement. Some people just didn't feel anymore like "risking" it.

So, I guess my suggestion is to be careful about who goes in what meeting, especially in the very early stages, because some people might chicken out, and then other people might see those people and feel like unionizing is going too far.

Because of this, we had to stop at getting a small wage increase for our team alone, and now, only after a year, is some of that energy, to do something about the wage and the workplace, coming back.

  • We can do a dialectical analysis here, because he revolutionized something, Gabe Newell is like Mao, but he is also unlike Mao, for that he isn't Chinese.

  • I have actually seen posted online here in Bulgaria that TikTok (through sub-contracts with another company) is still hiring for moderators in Sofia for a lot of languages.

So I think its a more common case of relocating to a cheaper country, maybe?Or maybe they are actually reducing head-count and keeping a smaller team in Bulgaria?

I don't know any inside information so I can't be 100% sure of what's going on.

  • The freedom to starve if you can't find a job fast enough in "insert any capitalist country" and never see any real improvement in your life is a foundamental part of democracy that we must defend!

  • Ferrero being Italian, are they going to put

    figurines in the cereals now?

  • I guess Bulgarian is not a language lol.

I wanted to send it to a friend but I guess not, that said I love the silliness of it so if there is a way to contribute I'll ask them to translate it and I'll try to send it to be added to the page.

  • I own a cheap Chuwi Mini-PC and it works great with Linux. The only issue is that there is no way to change it's fan speed and apparently CHUWI likes to make them spin.

But if this is a tablet, I guess it doesn't have a fan, so if it's made like my minipc than it shouldn't have any problem.

  • Just to make things more clear for people, this is about subcontractors, employed by what looks to be a local building company that is making a new factory for BYD EVs.

I think the article's title really makes it look like BYD is the one withholding passports and wages, but actually they are not and inside the article they say BYD has already asked the subcontractor to improve working conditions before it became news, but they didn't comply.

The article doesn't specify how much BYD's executives knew or if they had the ability to change things by their own choise.

  • I also just noticed that the first "t" could be the legs and the tail of the turtle, while the "l" are the front legs and the "e" is the head and mouth.

Meaning that the shell part would actually be "urt".More research is going to be needed to figure out this one.

  • Chapotraphouse @hexbear.net

What are they trying to say here ?! How can this even be seen as negative ?
