  • No it interprets the list of filenames as raw sound data which basically makes random noise maybe with a few bleeps when there are patterns

  • Yes. Being an Electron app does not mean that the Software is bad, it might matter for old/low ram systems and I would usually prefer something more native if there is an alternative. It is quick to develop on and people used to web technologies can quickly find their way around.

  • Another take: the discussion shows that quite a lot Linux users use this feature because it makes them more productive. If that feature is hidden away new users will probably never find it. Linux is not the same as Windows (which is why people flock to it right now in the first place) and thus has a learning curve. And I think that's ok. We don't have to make it more like Windows, people have to learn how to use it.

  • Yes, the Scarlett will just sync itself to the external adat signal. It's the only option anyway because the Scarlett lacks clock inputs and has no adat output the external device could sync to.

  • I would sit in the car with some pieces of cardboard and scissors and repeatedly fit the edge of a piece of cardboard to the curve horizontally at the lowest relevant height, then repeat the process at a fixed interval higher up. You can then measure the cardboard pieces to form a mesh.
