  • This has been what adherents of the Accelerationism religion have been pushing for a while. They love to talk the talk but want other people to die for their utopia.

  • This is the same tactic used by the KKK to fight reconstruction....

It's the same group of people so, shouldn't be a surprise.

  • If you want to discuss, I am pretty certain that the point being made was:

The right-wing push to add Allied leaders to the list of "villains" is to make the perception of the leadership of Nazi Germany relatively less "bad" and more palatable. Further, the wording and historical revisionism of labeling Churchill (who was a dickhead, TBF) as "the Real Villain" is to go beyond that and make the Nazis, who were literally bent on world domination and genocide of all groups deemed "undsireable" by their leadership into the "Heros" of WWII.

This is a part of attempts to obliterate any cultural values that are not "nazis/fascists are/were the good guys and democracy is dated". Such efforts are heavily financed by openly fascist billionaires, like Peter Thiel, as well as the current President of the US who has been known to both be a pedophile and keep a book of Hitler's speeches on his bedside stand.

Such views are also much easier to adopt when thinking in moral absolutist terms.

  • It's like they really don't want me to use their pro-Nazi LLM, that I already didn't want to use on account of the tweaks that they made to make it support nazism.

  • Absolutely. One can also "gain" the third with extended isolation and chronic stress.

  • Yo.

  • Murdoch shifts in his seat uncomfortably

  • He's not. The individual that you're replying to is known for extreme bad faith and reporting people who disagree with them. I recommend ignoring.

  • What do you call being forced to work at 81 (with a 90 year old non-working husband), and only being able to work 4 of the 5 hour shift because you're exhausted?

I call it "absolutely fucked up".

You're saying that moving is a death sentence. I'm saying homelessness is, which is what is in their near future.

Maybe I took you the wrong way, if so, my apologies. I think that this is a case of both statements bring correct. They are effectively being murdered through fiscal policy and corruption.

  • If possession of an unlicensed suppressor can be legally considered attempted murder, I didn't see how showing up armed, concealing one's identity, brandishing firearms, and physically assaulting people (with the threat of said firearms) is not. States need to start trying all of these nazis.

  • Sorry but your last point is absolutely asinine. It ignores the hardships caused by relocating, the fact that rural hospitals like those available in WV are continuously shutting their doors as they are deemed unprofitable (the husband has health problems), and the fact that, based upon a wealth of international studies, the isolation from social support networks that they'd assuredly face, is pretty much a death sentence.

So, from that point alone, your statement could be paraphrased as: "They don't need to live in such an unaffordable place; they could just die instead."

  • It is an unfortunately shared initialism. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

  • It is a way to go but there are still cons there. Guaranteeing memory safety isn't free. You have to pay for it somewhere, either at compilation time, like Rust, or during runtime like in Go. Both are solid approaches but GC will cause problems in cases where the extra runtime overhead is not acceptable.

  • Thanks for this, non-voters.

  • Personally, I block pretty much all exclusionary communities for a few reasons:

    • I frequently do not see the community name before looking at a thread and finding something interesting to converse on, partly because of my neurodivergences. This leads to breaking rules without intending to. Safer to block.
    • I sometimes have experienced RSD as a symptom of my neurodivergences and thus intentionally take action to prevent it.
    • I value inclusivity and anarchic social organization as fundamental parts of my ethical framework and find social exclusion based upon a person's immutable traits incredibly offensive (the intensity of this is definitely related to my neurodivergences as well).

This is not to say that I don't believe that women deserve a space where they have control and agency, especially with the immense amounts of misogyny on the Internet and meatspace. Nor do they need to consider my feelings nor any other man's when deciding their rules and whether to be inclusive or exclusive.

I do, however, think that the hard-line exclusionary practices diminish the perspective, both for the participants and for men who could definitely use the insights into the bullshit that women have to continue to deal with. Lots of missed opportunity to build understanding and strengthen allyship. It also makes it easier for toxic exclusionary ideologies, like TERFs to take root (every group excluded makes it easier to excuse excluding another) while also preventing people who have not discovered their feminine gender identities from participating in conversation with other women in ways that could help them to uncover important things about themselves.

Anyway, enjoy and I hope that you find your space helpful to you, regardless of what myself or any other man feels about it. If the community does become inclusive, I'd definitely like to to know so that I can unblock it.

  • Maybe use satellite imaging or the like.

  • I think that they would be necessary still to respect the memory of the fiercely independent people and prevent corporate exploitation of the land.

  • "But if we avoid using the tools of democracy to create positive change and instead encourage people to not vote and be apathetic, we can make the human experience objectively worse for everyone. And, if we do it hard enough, and ensure that enough vulnerable people are sacrificed, it will magically turn those apathetic people into class l-conscious revolutionaries that are willing to die violent deaths for our version of utopia."

    I wish this were a "/s".

  • Appinages are fine. Needing to apply changes as patchsets rather than just building normally sucks. Especially in deb and rpm distros.
