  • “No experience with said metaphor”, we tried to help you

If you can’t figure out what we’re talking about with a thread full of context then I don’t know what to tell you. Either way, you can take a lesson learned here or not, I don’t particularly care anymore.

  • If you don’t care about the metaphor what the heck are you doing in this conversation

  • People were trying to gently educate you on a metaphor and you decided anything pre-internet is a requirement. Then you keep talking about your lived experience when you got it wrong. Then you attack people when they said they’re not going to do work for you and if you want info you can look it up yourself. You got some real boomer energy my guy/gal.

  • Honestly, people have given you examples. If you want examples from pre-internet then you should do some work yourself to find it.

  • You know who also made rockets when they were younger? Homer Hickam who worked at NASA and was the person depicted in October Sky. I agree with the other commenter, if you haven’t talked to your kid in 10 years (during highly formative years too) you probably shouldn’t do an interview where you talk about who he is now.

  • I guess it depends on the subtitle type? I know some are just the spoken audio and some are descriptions of side conversations/surrounding noises as well. That said I’m one of those that reads faster than hearing but that’s due to bad hearing and my brain trying to figure out what it heard is slower than reading/hearing combined. Or even sometimes the subtitles are a bit fast so I’m still about even.

  • I believe what they’re saying is that if UPS or FedEx is now the postal service they’ll put junk mail for their services in your mailbox. What you consider junk mail is other businesses paying the post office to send mail (though you may not like it).

  • Had a manual 2016 Mazda 3. Took a bit to find it with all the options I wanted but it was available at the time.

  • I'm just addressing the fact that Reddit isn't always correct and we should want more credible sources than random people submitting things online with no vetting. That's where they aren't entirely wrong. I'm not saying they're right and their memory is a reason to believe this is incorrect, but they're just some person online just like the Reddit user.

  • They're not entirely wrong though. Remember how Reddit "caught" the Boston marathon bomber?

  • It can also be used for people with disabilities. And while it is more expensive it can be much quicker and lead to shorter line times.

  • Yeah, nice catch!

  • Satellite radio doesn't require your phone to have solid signal. Going out into the boonies? As long as you can see the sky you're chance of losing radio is almost none. I used to love having satellite radio until I started working from home. Now I have almost everything I want on a downloaded playlist to my phone.

  • It wasn't software though. It was an immobilizer chip, which is hardware, that they didn't put in the car. They cheaped out on a part, sure, but it wasn't faulty nor was it software.

  • I feel like being remote for 4 years is no longer about the pandemic. It's become a new standard and by showing financial harm by coming into the office I feel you might have a better case. Example being car insurance. My insurance went down as my car is now a "personal vehicle" vs a "commuter car"

  • I'm just giving anecdotal evidence, just like you gave 🤷‍♂️ I'm not promoting one way of communicating vs another.

  • Crazy, most people use SMS with Messenger as the go to for big groups for me (in USA). No one I know uses WhatsApp

  • I would argue that unlike nuggets they are cuts off the chicken breast and you can still see "threads" of meat as opposed to nuggets which are ground into a paste. I know it's a home recipe but this is what I usually experience at restaurants https://www.persnicketyplates.com/boneless-wings/
