  • Fairphone makes an effort to open source all code including device trees and encourages the developement of custom roms and alternative oses like Linux mobile. So I'll just switch to a Fairphone with a custom ROM.

    I won't switch to mobile linux though since I don't want to go back to an unsandboxed environment.

    When people say "we should protect minorities and not harm or even kill them" and you react with "stop appealing to emotions", maybe you're the bad one. Maybe you'd fit in better with the MAGA crowd seeing your complete disregard for human suffering.

    Anyway, since you want a new argument, let's do a thought experiment: Do you sleep on the street because you can't live in a perfect villa? Do you eat dogshit because you can't get a perfect gourmet meal? Do you have no social life because you can't find the perfect friends or partner?

    If not, then why would you be okay with fascism because you can't get your perfect government?

    Why is the only time that you won't settle for anything less than perfect when you aren't the one suffering? Why is the only time you won't settle then when it is the minorities who will be suffering?

    I hope you see this. And I hope you see how disrespectful it is to all those who you've failed to protect from unacceptable suffering. If we can't even agree that minimising human suffering is a good thing, then I don't have anything more to say to you.

    I hope your plan somehow works out and I will turn out to have been wrong, I truly do. But I am afraid you will make a painful realisation at some point.

    Make them rentable. I want a private piece of seashore for vacation. But nobody should be able to own it for life.

    Same with natural resources. WTF are they owned by corpos? Anything mined and drilled should be owned by all citizens

    as sad as it is, that failed miserably in the soviet union. The soviets initially had way better computer but because all industry was publicly owned noone competed and noone bought computers which is why they fell behind the US.

    There is a sensible middle ground that allows for the pressure-driven innovation of capitalism without its extreme and unfair exploitation. We just have to find it.
