  • It's not Disney's fault, really. It's Sinclair and Nexstar, the affiliate networks. They're the ones that could have pushed back without drastic financial consequences, and they're the ones that pressured ABC to can the show.

Disney management has a fiduciary responsibility they cannot ignore. They handled this as well as they could (and likely raised hell behind closed doors).

Put your ire where it belongs: the fascists and their supporters, not the businesses trying to survive this hellscape without breaking laws

There are LOTS of reasons to hate Disney and their management but this isn't one of them IMO

  • They'll be okay. After all....😎....

🎵 It just takes some time 🎵

  • It's very possible with a coalition formed through other recent success stories like Mamdani, she's concluded that a coup of sorts is possible (and I mean that with the utmost excitement). They might have numbers showing now is the time to capitalize on a ground swell and really shift the party. I'm assuming they've got some sort of data backing this, even if it's just "we don't know if we can win but we know the establishment Democrats will lose"

  • My neighbor Steve says he knew Robinson personally, even went to the same church, and it was a brain parasite that caused him to go crazy and shoot someone.

I'm just gonna print that in the New England Journal of Medicine, because after all, it's the information I have, and I can always retract it later, right?

    /s 🙄

Misinformation is deeply dangerous and respectable journalists have a duty not to print bullshit in the first place. Sure, mistakes happen, but we don't just hand-wave it away with "well, they said sorry sooooo 🤷‍♀️".

  • Sure, this is just an example of how complex "feel" can get in game development. The video includes several examples where player perception changes drastically from very minor gameplay design changes

  • There are so many things that go into whether a game feels responsive or not. Your experience could be explained by anything from access to stable Internet, to trends in game design philosophy, and vary from game to game based on implementation.

Here's one of my favorite GDC talks that looks at just one small part of what goes into making a game feel responsive: https://youtu.be/h47zZrqjgLc

  • Ehhhhhhhh that's generally untrue honestly.

Many people have the capacity. And there are enough shitty people that they will take advantage if given the opportunity.

But most people are just trying to live their lives as best they can, and much of their selfishness can be unlearned, or isn't really selfishness anyway, just survival instinct and misinformation

  • I provided a proper explanation for the silent observers ;)

  • Don't even get me started on Dilbert's "The TTP Project"

Or what happens when you Google "recursion"

  • The median is a statistical fact that can be used by humans in both good and bad ways. Lots of data can be made to look lots of different ways in the hands of different people.

That's why teaching critical thinking (not just the skills but the importance and value) is paramount. People need to understand what they're looking at. Because sometimes you want the mean, other times you want the median, and if you can't even understand when you might want one or the other or both for different reasons then you can be led around by the nose with either.

  • From passing out. Locking knees can reduce blood flow

  • Seattle and Portland do make up the PNW hippie culture, which I'm sure plenty of respondents find unfavorable

  • What are the chances Washington gets dinged for having the same name as DC?

  • Uhhhhh you overestimate the knowledge of the average user

Sincerely, anyone and everyone who has worked IT help desk

  • Also F12 to open the developer panel, then check the "network" and "sources" tabs where you can see every single asset that is loaded (may need to refresh after opening the dev panel) and interact with them in a list

  • I feel bad for all the opportunities you're going to miss while you're more interested in modeling your life based on the behavior and opinions of others than what is good and satisfying for you, independent of others. I hope one day you are able to move past whatever anger is driving you to prioritize rebellion over utility.

  • This is a petulant way to approach life, and perfectly fits the idiom "throwing the baby out with the bath water".

It is possible to set boundaries without being deliberately contrarian and resistant to any form of outside pressure.

IMO the best possible solution here is to refuse to speak further about it with their dad, but go on the date and have a great time hanging out with a random stranger for a little bit.

To put it more simply: if you're hungry and I bring you sandwich and demand that you eat it, telling me "leave the sandwich, I'll eat it if I want, but I'm not giving you the satisfaction of knowing or seeing me eat it because of how you approached me" is the smart move.

    • Wing Commander 4 - At the time, I was very young, and this game changed how I looked at videogames. For my little brain, the FMV cutscenes and genuinely decent acting (ffs, it has Mark Hammil) somehow made it click that games could have compelling narrative
    • Kingdom Hearts - this game changed my life in many ways. I can genuinely say I wouldn't be doing what I do today if it weren't for this game and my involvement in the fan community around it. This game is very special to me because of its themes and major plot beats, and how those interacted with my life at the time. This game taught me that you could go beyond "compelling narrative" and break my heart with a video game lol
    • Natural Selection 2 - I wish this game were more popular in its prime. This is the epitome of what I think good competition looks like, and a great manifestation of what I personally love in esports
