I don’t give a shit about David Hasselhoff, but Knight Rider without Mr Feeney as KITT wouldn’t be the same

Just a heads up, people should be wary of playtron to a degree: the CEO is a guy named Kirt McMaster. Anyone from the Android enthusiast community may know him as the guy who convinced the creator of CyanogenMod to incorporate (becoming Cyngn) and then drove the company into the ground chasing skinning and theming revenue, and wouldn’t even allow the community to keep the cyanogen brand (they had to rebrand it to LineageOS)
Kirt sucks. He’s a terrible leader and a terrible businessperson. I’m sure there are plenty of great people involved in playtron but with him at the helm of the company I am not expecting it to end well
It’s literally a multiplayer competitive shooter. That’s the game.
To my knowledge it wasn’t his decision. It was Kathleen Kennedy. Poe was a favorite among kids and helped sell a boatload of X-Wing toys. He was seen as the “Han Solo of the sequels” and Disney execs all but forced Rian to give him screen time. They couldn’t really reduce Rey’s role so Finn got screwed
I’m with you 100% on everything you wrote here and I’ve had this argument with my brother countless times. He blames Rian Johnson for everything bad about the sequels and it’s bs.
Personally I think the biggest thing TLJ suffered from was the split focus between Poe and Finn. It made both stories rushed or weak in various places.
And for that I blame Disney. Did you know that Poe wasn’t even supposed to be a big character? He was supposed to be in the first scene of Ep7 and that’s it. But execs saw his performance and insisted they needed his character to play a bigger role. As such, we get attention split between Poe and Finn and both suffer for it.
I feel awful for John Boyega who was such a massive Star Wars fan, got the role of his dreams, and then effectively got sidelined for a pretty-boy.
My solution for this type of situation is MicroBin running on my home network from a non-standard port, with a port knocker to open and close the port when needed.
My router handle DDNS so I can always contact my home network easily. I port-knock to trigger an iptables command on the router to forward traffic to the MicroBin host.
I also have my phone set up to connect via openvpn to my home network so that I can remotely do things like start and stop services, set port forwarding rules, etc.
So I’m Federated, So What?
Definitely this one lol

I’ve seen a lot of stupid comments about this outage but this by far the dumbest.
Software development is not a zero-sum game. The people who work on building detection logic aren’t the same people who build the release management cycle or test deployments.
There is a lot to shit on CrowdStrike for in this debacle. “If they hadn’t been working on AI they could have avoided this” isn’t part of it.
Source: Am infosec. Company uses CrowdStrike. Was impacted today. Follow this stuff very closely.
I mean to say that the connection attempt is failing because the traffic is never reaching the server.
There is no traffic on Port 8081 in those logs
Yeah your iptables is already set to up ACCEPT by default meaning no blocking.
My next step would be to determine whether the traffic is reaching the target machine. Look into how you can monitor inbound traffic and verify whether the server even sees the inbound connection attempt
First obvious question: do you have a firewall enabled?
From a terminal, type “iptables -L” and if there are any rules there (rather than just category headers) you will probably need to allow inbound traffic through the firewall
As far as I’m aware, unless you’re already B12 deficient, the B12 in 5hr Energy doesn’t do much of anything because it already hangs around in your blood stream for a long, long time. Half life on B12 in the body is something like 6 days and excess is even stored in the liver instead of excreted.
Can’t speak to the other ingredients but I’d guess it’s all the same: either it’s already available in abundance if you’re eating a decent diet, or the half life is close to that of caffeine
Not even. I can’t speak for others but the effects of 5hr Energy pretty much disappear after those 5 hours are up. Half the caffeine dose isn’t enough to do much of anything, at least for me. So it’s essentially a waste. I’m sure it depends on things like BMI but to get 5hrs of half-assed energy you’d need to consume 3/4ths of a dose, which would leave you with roughly half the experience of a 5hr Energy (that is, half the difference between the caffeine in your system immediately after drinking one dose and 5hrs after drinking one)
Caffeine has a half-life in the human body of approximately 4-6 hours. So this means that the “5 hours” in 5hr Energy is just the amount of time it takes for your body to process half the caffeine away.
Therefore drinking half of a 5hr Energy would be 0 hours of the advertised level of energy. At best it would be like drinking a 5hr Energy and then immediately fast-forwarding 5 hours
Spoon with fork properties. A fork with spoon properties would require adding material back in, whereas the former is just removing a bit of material to create the prongs.
I didn’t read that as “he didn’t realize those things” but as “he didn’t think he’d care as much as he did”. Like, it’s easy to say “I could go without X” but actually doing it is different. That’s a universally true experience that seems more likely than “Kevin Bacon thought average people get to skip lines and have strangers say I love you”
Because there is value in a large group speaking with a unified voice to say “this is wrong, and you need to know that the rest of us think it’s wrong. Your behavior will affect the relationship you have with us all going forward”. Direct intervention isn’t the only form of consequence.
Is it the best solution to the problem? No. Is it still worth doing? Yes.
