  • This crops up every once so often. Not even on the national news but for some reason international media like to report on it.

    Of course there are rumors about the Antwerp harbor, and of politicians being involved along with real estate developers, but the cops are not incentivized to investigate that. Instead they are told focus on low-level drug dealers in Brussels because that's easier to smear all over the local news to worry have people about the 'drugs problem', all for the next increase of police budgets and erosion of civil rights.

    I remember the whole show about Sarkozy in France: after the full 20 days in jail he was back to chilling poolside at one of his mansions with an ankle monitor.

    Right. Seems the same protocol there: convict them for their most minimal crime, do a show stint in a prison. Or allow them "exile" in Dubai like that king. This is not the same justice system as the plebeian one.
