  • I was having computer science class and I remember seeing the news... Felt so unreal to see something like that in America. Went home, watched news for the entire day.

Then I read a lot about 9/11 the following years. I think it changed the perception about America in a lot of people.

  • I agree, but people dont like to hear that.

There is always the possibility that we are wrong also.

  • Having government confirm age of users is the beginning of having to use a real id to use the internet. Thats the wet dream of governments and big tech, but its a total nightmare for privacy and discussing things without your real name being known.

Just watch linkedin and see how discussions are extreamly limited there, since people dont want to discuss sensitive things in front of others using their real name.

  • I also dont watch news and havent for a decade. Its not like im missing something important, since I get to hear about anything actually important anyway. It would be hard to miss things like covid where we actually need to take action. Even here on Lemmy, people seem to be discussing a lot of current events in the news, so... Dont need to watch TV news.

  • Its hard to know online but yeah, I was.

  • Lets have another peaceful protest, it will work this time.

  • Now we are debt slaves instead. Success.

  • I dont know. Maybe ive been unlucky but "diversity" has meant a lot of people with very different personalities, which has meant that people dont become friends. Has it meant something different to you? Maybe for you its the other way, and you dont have anything incommon with the typical worker (whatever bro means in this context, maybe males and you are female?) , so you welcome more people like yourself.

Doesnt everyone actually want collegues that are as close to yourself in personality as possible so you feel you have common ground?

  • Life.

  • You clearly are not a "team player". HR already has a plan for your life, all you have to do is follow their instructions and things are smooth.

Feeling unhappy? Deal with that outside of work, and make sure it dont affect your work.

If its one topic i really feel passionate about, its the entire anti-work thing. Because we are human beings. All of us work because we have to. And thats it.

  • You would understand if you understood the mindset of HR employees. To them, you are joining a life mission, not just a job. And they have a plan for your life so it fits the company objectives. Super great. Except no.

  • Yeah its shocking we are not incredibly grateful isnt it.

    "Nobody wants to work"... :)

  • Sounds exactly like what we do at Lemmy.today.

That specific part you said, about letting users decide, is the core idea of the entire instance and has been from the start.

But check out all options before you decide. The Lemmy network needs many different instances to stay strong.

  • Can we make this site judge what Trump says? Would be so funny.

  • Haha you got a good point :)

  • 100%, its incredibly obvious.

No, I was watching the bond market. The bond market is very tricky. I was watching it, but if you look at it now, it’s — it’s beautiful. The bond market right now is beautiful. But, yeah, I saw last night where people were getting a little queasy.”

Hard to believe these are US Presidential quotes. Sounds more like some teenage barista smoking pot.

  • It looked good today, until it didnt....

  • It doesnt matter if they reach any end result, as long as stocks go up and profits go up.

Consumers arent really asking for AI but its being used to push new hardware and make previous hardware feel old. Eventually everyone has AI on their phone, most of it unused.
