  • I think we actually get to understand now how Hitler came to power. I remember in school, I was mystified how such an hateful man could become a leader of a country. Now I understand.

    History will most likely repeat itself and humanity needs a big war to once again remember what hate leads to.

    It just sucks for the ones who already learned that lesson from basic history.

  • Its about self censorship also i think. By making an example of a public figure, you make the audience self censor their thoughts in public.

    People want to fit in and they dont want to upset others, so it works.

  • Americans dont really know how to judge a persons character... Look at the choices for the last few decades... They have all been horrible people, except maybe Joe Biden who was unable to function instead.

    Yes, Jon seems like a good person but I dont think good people are attracted to career politics. Its for the snakes and the lizards.

    But yeah, he would be a good fit if he wanted to sacrifice his happiness for that role. I think he is way too smart for that.

  • Honestly i think its just the endgame now for America. Trump gave tons of money to build up a massive secret police (ICE) and while they may come "only" for foreign criminals right now, they will be used against Americans in the future. It simular to Hitler and how he went after jews in the beginning.

    Also the entire thing with Trump about bringing as much of production within their own borders, feels like he plans for the country to become more and more isolated from other countries in the future.

    I think its a good time to look at options to get out of the United States if you can.

  • I think we are wasting our lives to a certain degree. As kids, we expected more from life than sitting in front of a computer to feed the family. And sitting at a computer is seen as one of the "good" jobs.

  • Possibly, but they are also not getting this kind of publicity. American politics seems to be about being very extreme in your views, and they dont have to be true, just appear to be on the peoples side.

  • I thought he was a nominee? Article says that anyway. But still, there is zero chance that any of these guys will make any changes that are helping the ordinary people and hurts billionaries. Its a system where they have money and power and most of the citizens do not.

    People are desperate for hope, and thats why his strategy is working. It is simular to Trumps own strategy also. They all come out and act as if they represent the ordinary people, and everyone buys it every time.

  • All these guys just say what the public wants to hear before election.

    Behind the scenes, this guy wants to be a billionarie, and the way there is to make a political career, saying whatever is popular with the voters.

    There is no risk of being shot because all this guy is doing is trying to get popular, just like every other political guy before him. He wont be able to get rid of billionaries even if he wanted to.

  • I was having computer science class and I remember seeing the news... Felt so unreal to see something like that in America. Went home, watched news for the entire day.

    Then I read a lot about 9/11 the following years. I think it changed the perception about America in a lot of people.
