  • Probably in a bathroom at Mar-a-Lago

  • Yes, but the air is also thinner up here

  • Ok I lied. I don’t actually use vim, I use neovim. But I don’t daily drive Linux or windows, and neovim does kinda unify my local editing vs ssh experience. So only 50% a shitpost.

I mean, I use vim when I have to, but I have a pretty crazy neovim config I prefer. Also shoutout to stow for helping me sync my neovim config across systems.

  • What does tmux think?

  • Yeah, I try not to get too involved with the drama, but I'm wondering if hosting this community on ml was a mistake because of the blocks.

But I think I have enough accounts lol

  • No, sorry, my comments are very chaotic. v1.9.16 is where you should be, and that should fix most of the big issues. The change I made might introduce another small bug, but that's a bridge I will cross when it comes.

  • Will fix. Also I guess I forgot to let you save comments in Blorp, so we should probably add that too.

  • I think Tessearct proxies requests via a backend, but I would have to double check. We could do this, but I’m trying to avoid setting up any sort of backend. Idk how much pull we have with Loops, but maybe we can ask them to setup a way to embed videos.

    • You’re now a mod! Feel free to update the sidebar. Unfortunately Blorp doesn’t really support moderation features… yet. I’m also not sure how well moderation works from PieFed to Lemmy, so let me know if it works.
    • I’m not seeing the embed in the link you sent. But I think I know what you mean. There are a bunch of embeds we recognize and can handle gracefully (without autoplay) but if we don’t recognize an embed, we fallback to rendering it in an iframe. I’m not 100% how to diable autoplay in the fallback case. I’m considering just disabling any unrecognized embeds.
    • Loops is kinda a hack. The Mac, iOS, and Android app should be able to play the Loops video in app. For the website to work we would need some sort of API access from Loops.
    • I have hover implemented in the accesibility branch build in my origianl post.
    • PieFed banner bug is fixed on blorpblorp.xyz but I’m not rolling out to app stores quite yet.

PieFed plans on pruning some stuff from their API responses to cut down on size. Looks like they return community.banner from but maybe prune post.community.banner. Lemmy doesn’t do this, so whenever we see post.community we can assume it’s up to date. But with PieFed, we have to be more careful as it can return only a subset of the data about the community.

    • Done, removed comments from search. Good call
    • Would you be interested in being a moderator for this community? Otherwise I can update the sidebar
    • Feedback is fine wherever. If I forget about something, feel free to message me again. But GitHub issues are less likely to get lost as I have to close them. Matrix is nice for things that require a lot of back and forth.
  • I’m fairly confident this is Blorp and not iOS.

Between this and the security issue, there are just too many database problems. Initially I decided to use a more complicated database setup to avoid the dreded Voyager error There was an issue setting up Voyager's database.

That choise was meant to reduce friction, but it’s crealy creating way more friction.

I just published v1.9.16. Unfortunately this will log out everyone on iOS and Android, but it should solve the root of all these problems. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully this is the last issue and I can get back to working on features instead of bugs.

Unfortunately, this also means we may run into a similar There was an issue setting up Voyager's database. as Voyager, which will require you to force restart the app. We will cross that bridge when it comes.

  • Ok, between this and a bunch of other things, I think my choise of database within the app is a mistake. Initially I chose this database to prevent the dreaded Voyager There was an issue setting up Voyager's database. But at this point, think I’ve created a worse user expierence than just showing a similar error.

I’m going to gut the overly comples database I setup, and if we run into that database error, we will deal with it.

So a few things will happen:

    • Existing user data will be errased :(
    • Potentially the app may need to be relaunched form time to time. We’ll cross that bridge
    • This should simplify things pretty significantly so I can focus on building featrues instead of debuging database errors
    • This circumvents the whole security thing I ran into the other day

Idk if any of taht makes sense. I’m mostly thinking out loud

  • Edit: I think I might know the issue. Can you try v1.9.14 on TestFlight? Might take a couple hours to show up.

Yikes, this sounds like a not fun one. I saw a similar issue the other day on my phone, but reinstalling the app fixed it. I really hope I didn't break it with v1.9.12.

Would you mind making a post mentioning as much detail as you're comfortable sharing? iOS version, app version, and screenshots if you are comfortable. Maybe someone else is seeing a similar issue.

    Another idea:

    • Delete Blorp. Make sure you fully delete before downloading form TestFlight.
    • Join TestFlight
    • Look for v1.9.14 on TestFlight
  • Does Lemmy work? If this is a PieFed specific bug, then I am publishing 1.9.13 which fixes that. Specifically PieFed was broken if you had blocked a person, blocked a community, or moderate a community. 1.9.13 fixes all of those.

If you see the same issue with Lemmy, then we have a bigger problem.

Edit: I just tested iOS 18.6.2 and it seems to be working with Lemmy. But software is never that easy lol

  • Wtf have I stumbled upon. Sort of kinda reminds me of prolog a little. And DSKs (Domain Specific Keyboard), sign me up.

  • Me reading this as a computer scientist

    Chat, are we cooked?

  • 500 > steps_per_day

Unfortunately I don't think we have enough information to solve for steps_per_day , though I assume it is also >= 0 .

So we can make an educated guess that

    500 > steps_per_day >= 0

  • Haven't seen a picture of Jordan Peterson in awhile. He's not looking too good. I'm thinking he might not have all the answers.
