  • This legitimately is one of the reasons I couldn't vibe with Monster Hunter. Large beast or not, they're slaves to their nature and did nothing wrong. I can't enjoy "hunting" and killing them to craft weapons.

I had other issues with the game that stopped me from enjoying it, but this one completely killed any chance of immersion for me.

  • Yoooo, I've been playing 3 games this week:

    Uppers

A miracle happened: Steam recommended me a game I ended up actually enjoying. What an insane mess this game is 😂 Last I played it, it had me kick someone into a flying helicopter, it exploded, and the game crashed. Absolute insanity, I love it.

    Assault Android Cactus+

OK, I'm back: finally got over my gripes with the game and can officially say I've been converted to a fan. Honestly, in a world where nearly every western twin-stick shooter is some kind of rogue- variant, this game is worth supporting, even though it's old. I respect Isaac and its legion of mimics, but I find games like this and Nex Machina much more fun. Arcade design FTW 🤘

    Gunvein

Finally went on sale! I waited for a year! Totally worth the wait! What an intense, fun game. Probably my 3rd favorite shmup on Steam, after Crimzon Clover and Hellsinker. I look forward to practicing 1CCs.

  • Furi was such a profound experience for me, changed my outlook on life altogether, and helped me realize how much I enjoy action games, but it's too limited and I can't justify revisiting it when there are much more fun action games out there.

  • I haven't paid over $20 in 5 years. I honestly can't justify spending more than that on a video game. I don't care how good: price will drop eventually, and I will wait.

  • Unfortunately, some genres struggle going indie because they're too expensive to develop and aren't guaranteed to sell well. There is a reason PlatinumGames can't afford to make Bayonetta if Nintendo doesn't put up the money, for example, and almost every indie studio that attempts a similar feat has to spend years and years in early access.

The Genokids developer has been working on the game for +5 years and has only 2 chapters to show for it. Mahou Arms released on Steam in April 2020, and is still in early access today.

The world has become too expensive for some things to comfortably exist, or exist at all, unfortunately.

  • You could’ve clarify by saying “hack and slash”, which is what the og GOW and DMC are, “action game” is so broad it could even include ff7r, kh, and even battletoad

"Hack and slash" is not the definitive name of the genre. It's just what you know to call it. There's no definitive name to that genre, but you wouldn't know that because, again, for some absurd reason you're in an online argument over a topic you clearly don't care about.

Thread is literally over a GoW game. If you couldn't figure out what kind of action game I'm talking about from the context, that's on you.

It’s open forum, i can join any conversation i like.

Hey, go for it. It's your wasted time, not mine.

  • I do like Devil May Cry 4 and 5, and God of War 3, but my favorites are The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta, God Hand, and Ninja Gaiden II.

    Which GoW is your favorite?

  • Yup, love'em. Killer Is Dead is my favorite. What about you?

  • I mean, I understand y'all don't care about the difference between God of War Ragnarok and Devil May Cry because it's "all action" to you. What I don't understand is why you randomly decide to jump in online arguments if you clearly don't care.

  • IDK if it's shit, but I tried to get out of my comfort zone, bought the original after it came out on PC, and regretted it.

I'm probably not the person to judge it, but I know for sure it's not for me.

  • I'm acting like they haven't done a proper action game in 16 years, yes.

  • Must be thrilling for Motion Twin to get to work on this. They earned it, TBH. All the power to them.

  • Huh, Wolverine actually looks sick in this. I will most likely give it a shot on sale.

  • Yessss, GoW3 is the best western action game to date. No competition.

This better make its way to PC eventually.

  • They will really do anything but make a proper action game 😂

    Kratos rhythm game when?

  • Not falling for this again. Fool me once, shame on you, full me twice, shame on you, Kojima.

I'm glad it's successful though. Do your thing, you Japanese weirdo.

  • So this may end up being shit because of the change in management, but holy shit you can launch and air juggle enemies in a 2026 western video game, I can't believe my eyes…
