  • Sambal is Indonesian I think, though I know it through malaysian food mostly. If you mean shrimp paste itself, I'm not sure, but I would assume that the origin is prehistoric and shrimp paste co-originated with lots of coastal people in the area.

A social construct is an idea created and maintained by society specifically for its social function, which neither socks nor the act or wearing them nor the idea that wearing socks is good, are.

    It kinda doesn't though. That is substantially bigger than even the biggest hot dog that I would consider a normal size. You have to really mean JUMBO for your comparison to make any sense, and at that point you can't use the serving size conventions of hot dogs anymore.

  • It's a type of chili sauce that's basically hot red chile paste with garlic, some sort of onion/shallot, and I believe shrimp paste usually. Sometimes people also use tomato, and may cook some of the ingredients other than the shrimp paste as well. Also herbs and spices like lemongrass, ginger, etc depending on specific tastes. It's supposed to be quite a bright flavor.

  • I think most people don't use applications that have multiple windows. The trend in GUI design has been towards single window interfaces for quite a while now, so people just don't run into these issues most of the time.
