I could use a smaller truck, as long as it can actually do truck things. Right now I'm driving a truck and a Nissan leaf. If I could get down to one EV for everything, that'd be nice.
Problem with a lot of the EV trucks out there is that they're truck shaped objects, and can't actually do truck things.

AI is certainly a useful tool in many situations, but we can’t let it do the thinking for us, at least for now.
No, it's not "like a person who can think." Unless you mean it's like an ADHD person who got distracted halfway through the transcript and started working on a different project in the same file.
Another EMT here. The vast majority of the time it happens because of two mistakes, people almost never get seriously injured because of one thing, it is usually "I disabled or ignored this one safety step, then I got distracted for a second at the wrong time" or something similar. Could be alcohol, could be laziness, could be pressure to finish something for a boss that doesn't care.
Safety is typically defense in depth, and one failure isn't enough to cause a major issue.
That's one of the ways proposed for terraforming Venus. Put in a sun shield to freeze the planet, let the CO2 snow down, then process the CO2 into something that can sequester it away so it doesn't just go back into the atmosphere after removing the sun shield.
Of course none of that is technically possible right now, but it's a lot easier on a planet that has no (known) life to destroy while working through the process.
Back in the day it did sound weird. Partner was usually a business relationship, not a romantic one, and it was almost exclusively used by the LGBT crowd.
More gender neutral terms are good, but they're still going to sound odd to folks who spent 40+ years hearing the terms used in a different way. That's just how progress goes, older folks eventually will either get used to it, or be the weird relative ignored at holidays.
New math came out of it, they figured out more and more efficient ways to figure out the solution to "is this prime?"
Those same math techniques can be used for other problems, and possibly learn something that solves a problem you actually care about.
Research is important because you never know what weird problem someone is working on might solve. Maybe it will provide a new math solution that creates better CGI, maybe it'll finally create a technique to solve fusion.
Maybe it'll just be something that we know now that we didn't know before. There are FAR FAR FAR more wasteful things in the world than some nerds trying to solve big prime numbers.
