💭 ᴍɪɴʏᴀᴇɴ@lemmy.mlto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What is a service you host you never knew you needed?English4·8 months agoLove FreshRSS. It really is something that I didn’t know I needed. I often switch RSS apps, and it allows for seemless transitions.

Are you sure it wasn’t sociopath? It does take a certain amount of decision-making lacking empathy or remorse.

Now, it seems the protocol is being tapped into from a few different directions, so these new platforms may just be starting to make an appearance.
💭 ᴍɪɴʏᴀᴇɴ@lemmy.mlOPto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Over 3.1 million fake "stars" on GitHub projects used to boost rankingsEnglish3·9 months agoJust trying to play a little devils advocate. Not saying that its ethical to do it, but if morals/ethics don’t play a part in the decision, it could prove useful. Besides, I’d imagine that its already being extorted pretty heavily if there’s that much competition for sellers, hah.
Lemmy - Eternity (Android) Lemmy - Photon [phtn.app] (Windows) Mastodon - Moshidon (Android) Mastodon - mastodon, elk (Windows) Bluesky - Bluesky (Android/Windows)
💭 ᴍɪɴʏᴀᴇɴ@lemmy.mlOPto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Over 3.1 million fake "stars" on GitHub projects used to boost rankingsEnglish52·9 months agoYeah, I’d argue that the project can be good and not widely used. Do you think that there are projects with real use case and are great open source software and not widely used because its buried under the *s?
It could be a relatively inexpensive way for niche marketing. Especially if the developer has a payment option with the software. Probably a decent way to get the software out in the open for profitability, no?
💭 ᴍɪɴʏᴀᴇɴ@lemmy.mlto News@lemmy.world•'Shocking' footage shows handcuffed inmate who died after prison guards beat himEnglish2·9 months agoThis will continue because of cowardice, unfortunately. Integrity is one of the only things that separates moral and ethical action. In the moment, groupthink/mob mentality/group mentality led to conformity which is exactly what happened, and is an extreme form of pressure. Regardless of the action/inaction in the moment, integrity was challenged and defeated. One of the only ways this will change is something that will probably not happen due to conformism within the system. You lived how hard it was… your integrity was challenged, and ultimately inaction was the choice that was made resulting in net zero integrity.
As everything in hindsight reveals the truth, the inaction feeds conformity. If it’s never challenged, then it evolves into a “norm.”

He said, “Have you ever heard of Bitcoin?” I said, “No…” He explained (sort of) what he thought it was, but sounded more like an investment opportunity (blah blah blah) less than 10 cents per… I didn’t bite.
Lets just say this didn’t age well for me, lmao.
💭 ᴍɪɴʏᴀᴇɴ@lemmy.mlOPto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmy more social than Mastodon or NostrEnglish2·9 months agoThat would be neat, some quantitative data comparing comments / views or the such per post, etc… I’m sure its possible. Maybe someone can make this happen? 🧐

💭 ᴍɪɴʏᴀᴇɴ@lemmy.mlOPto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmy more social than Mastodon or NostrEnglish2·9 months agoIt is fascinating because of how small (relatively) the community is on Lemmy.
💭 ᴍɪɴʏᴀᴇɴ@lemmy.mlOPto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmy more social than Mastodon or NostrEnglish3·9 months agoYes, objectively. I wasn’t intending for that message to be in question.
💭 ᴍɪɴʏᴀᴇɴ@lemmy.mlOPto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmy more social than Mastodon or NostrEnglish16·9 months agoYeah, I get your point. But the question still remains. Lemmy objectively has more engagement/interaction regardless of the category of social media of each medium.
If you compare X to Lemmy, X has more engagement/interaction… And they are separate social media platforms categorically. Yet, Mastodon trumps Lemmy’s user count by nearly 10 fold…
It stands to question that with a fraction of the users on Lemmy, why is the interaction/engagement considerably higher?
Started a post with a topic in the same ballpark:
