I am live.

  • Lol. Ya... Tracks.

  • It isn't and you know it. I doubt very much they you go out of your way to swear in front of kids... Do you?

  • The best way to teach not only kids but pretty much anyone is through example. I don't forbid my kids from swearing but I don't swear in front of them.

I teach them there is a time and place for every word.

But saying "I swear in front of my kids but I'm not a racist" is just lazy. It's basically saying "I'm just ok at what at I do because I'm kinda selfish"

  • Tiktok??

  • "fuck you I won't do what you told me"

Man... Always gets the blood boiling! Such a good song!

  • The post suggests that profanity is harmless because it is not as destructive as slurs or dehumanizing language. That comparison is flawed. Swearing may not carry the same moral weight as racism or bigotry, but that does not make it “good.” An act being less wrong than another does not make it right. Killing in self-defense is not celebrated as morally pure, it is tolerated as the lesser evil in a tragic circumstance. Likewise, profanity may be tolerated as less harmful than hatred, but it still coarsens language and weakens self-discipline. To hold children to a higher standard, one should avoid both the greater and the lesser corruptions of speech.

  • Style

    Jump
  • I like to drop in "as was the style at the time" in casual conversation to see who picks up on it.

  • I think the issue is more or less slow drivers. One asshole is going 60 in a 70 in the left lane which caused people to pass them which in turn cause the cascade from the maneuvering around the slow person.

Slow drivers are far more dangerous than people don't 10 15 over the speed limit.

  • Ya. It makes sense this is what the majority of people in the US are buying.

The small car market only constitutes like 2% of the entire market.

The other 98% are suvs and pick up trucks which means most people aren't buying a truck because they need it for work or some kind of utility reason. They don't need 8ft beds. They need back seats because they don't want to buy a sedan.

But since the customer is almost never right outside of matters of taste what they all really want is a sadan that looks like a pick up. So here we are.

  • Very interesting. I'll have to inspect and research each of these sites, many I never knew about, in very close detail for the sake of science.

  • People hate llms because it gets them upvotes on lemmy. They don't even know what llm stands for.

  • Ok you've clearly lost the plot.

Let's try again. You use the internet right? Well, the internet is used for crimes, it makes people dumber, ever watch any flat earth videos? You should boycott the internet so you're not part of it that way you can remain morally in the clear.

And you not liking commercial llms vs. Machine learning for scientific application only makes you a hypocrite.

  • So you've missed the point of what I was trying to say and proceeded to spout utter nonsense instead. Ok.

  • Uhuh. I see. Yes. Very interesting indeed.

Could you please provide the sauce? For scientific purposes of course.

  • They have piercing valves that cost a few bucks, shredder valves are also less than five dollars. These are typical and easy repairs for for household refrigeration. I do it daily.

Depending on what the job requires it's 125 to 500 to refill a system.

Most fridge manufacturers don't put access valves on their sealed systems because they cost more money and are significantly more prone to leaking.

  • As someone in the repair industry, I can tell you this meme is nonsense.

Refurbished, reused, repaired, or otherwise remanufactured parts are almost always inferior to new ones. That’s not opinion, that’s reality. They’ve always been worse and always will be, at least until corporations stop playing the profit maximization game.

The truth is, these companies don’t care about quality. Their only goal is to spend the absolute minimum making old parts “usable” again, which leads to a massive percentage of defective components flooding the market.

  • The highly specialized "ai" that was used to make the COVID vaccine is probably significantly stupider than chatgpt two years ago.

Nothing I said was a false equivalency, though I'm pretty sure you don't even know what a false equivalent is.

  • It's a tool being used by humans.

It's not making anyone dumber or smarter.

I'm so tired of this anti ai bullshit.

Ai was used in the development of the COVID vaccine. It was crucial in its creation.

But just for a second let's use guns as an example instead of ai. Guns kill people. Lemmy is anti gun, mostly. Yet Lemmy is pro Ukraine, mostly, and y'all supports the Ukrainians using guns to defend themselves.

Or cars, generally cars suck yet we use them as transport.

These are just tools they're as good and as bad as the people using them.

So yes, it is just you and a select few smooth brains that can't see past their own bias.
