  • So only Alabama actually observes it. It's the only one that closes state offices. Mississippi combines it with Memorial Day so technically there is a day off and they are diluting Memorial Day. I'm a Floridian and have never heard of his birthday being observed or mentioned. In contrast I actually get Juneteenth off.

  • She was training the dog to hunt pheasants. The dog attacked chickens (pheasants)... And bit her while she was trying to stop it. There was 0 need to kill that dog.

  • Probably because of the Soviets. Dividing up Germany was not without risk. Soviet tanks and American tanks were parked across the boarders from each other with rounds ready to fire.

  • The Soviets did not send soldiers to battle without weapons. That is a myth. They fought like hell in WW2 and finishing that is stupid.

  • The person you are responding to is not arguing in good faith. I was going to say don't feed the troll but maybe it's better to refute the BS so unsuspecting people don't read them thinking they are correct.

  • It's just a humor article. Not sure if you read past the headline but the whole article is about the positives of an e-bike. If anything maybe someone who by default is opposed to or on the fence about e-bikes might click on the article to get some negative takes and they find only positive ones,

  • I don't really see any false advertising. It is explicitly described as exactly what it is.

"An open source, cross-platform Spotify client compatible across multiple platforms utilizing Spotify's data API and YouTube, Piped.video or JioSaavn as an audio source, eliminating the need for Spotify Premium"

I guess it lacks the suggestion algo but that's the privacy compromise I guess.

  • Your average Indian citizen is probably not as tuned in to the conflict as people in Western nations. Poor men in rural areas are pitched high wages (to them) for some easy work like building barracks away from the frontline. The same thing was happening in Cuba. Then once they arrived in Ukraine they were put in combat roles.

  • More likely I think we will see strict limits on what is considered an ebike and what is an e-motorcycle that is only allowed on roads.

  • I just imagined a caretaker/servant seeing a tired Putin late at night, asking him if he was sleepy and offering him tea. Putin accepts tea and the servant returns to the kitchen to prepare the tea. The servant is immediately thrown out the kitchen window.

  • I'm American so I have never followed Eurovision. I always assumed it was European only. Are there many none European countries that participate? The USA doesn't right?

  • I thought it was saying that the actual tech companies were preparing to get attacked by the drones.

  • I work for a local environmental regulator. Our offices are located in one of the most accessible locations in the city possible for public transportation and walkability. Our higher ups wanted to move to an office that would require everyone to drive (no walking distance housing and very little public transport access). Luckily there would not be enough parking for the employees... They also wanted everyone to return to office full time but received enough pushback so that office staff will only have to go twice.

People in power do not see the big picture because they are distracted by politics or they personally don't want their daily lives inconvenienced.

  • There are still Douglas DC-3's in active use.
