  • Appreciate you taking what I'm saying in good faith

  • The reality on the ground here is there are no allies helping people, no vanguard, nothing. We tried to organize, including working with local unions, but nothing worked. If you have any suggestions beyond "do revolution" or "drown out the trans people dying with good thoughts and not trying to expand a commune" I'm all ears.

  • Marx was a lib for measuring bundles of linen

  • Build the commune. Just go straight for it. If it’s private property then you can decide who can be there. If you have a trust that holds the property, it’s still private property.

Already did but the reality is we're very alone and the number of homeless people in our area is building up. We need more space but have zero avenues to expand without exploitation (either stocks, commercial rentals, or housing which would be by far the easiest to expand on because once it's paid off we can put trans people in it). Like it's borderline impossible to even get trans people we know hired and making enough to support themselves. They basically survive on internet begging because of the dearth of funds, like we can't pay for everyone's healthcare because we have to be strategic so we can help where it counts (like bulk food). Trans people are also not an attractive donation target, we're not puppies, kids, or some minor celebrity that needs to pay for cancer.

I basically see this as hiding Jews (or trans people ,or queers) during the Holocaust by any means necessary. No one here seems to comprehend the level of catastrophe anyone working in this space is seeing right now. Maybe it's not reasonable for me to try to expand beyond what we can directly inhabit but it breaks my heart every day to see everyone dying and society to keep on chugging like it's normal. And yeah, society should suffer for that. And if I could target shithead cishet people with a laser sight I absolutely would, but I'm generally ok with shafting people that aren't actively working to help homeless people.

  • How do you see us being better allies and comrades? Truly asking.

Frankly I dont even know. Give a tithe to the local trans commune so they can expand? But obviously this amounts to not much money in practice even with frequent donors, you basically need a multimillionaire sugar daddy that will outright buy housing no strings to keep up with all the trans people going homeless. People love viral giving in an edge case scenario (like a dramatic event or cancer in someone photogenic), but anything that is persistent and actually works in helping people e.g. direct housing is shunned. I suppose maybe someone could make an app for housing homeless people in your own home, but even this sort of centralized planning could leave many people being exploited (what if someone poses as a homeless person to steal from a good person?). And of course, any trans person that is homeless would be wary of going to live with some random cis guy.

The reality is we only know if someone is going homeless through informal networks that aren't great. The local community is unseeing, unhearing, and amoral. Despite our lack of perfect information, we are still inundated with trans people dying or going homeless left and right. So the problem is much bigger than we can even comprehend, and our current ability to house anyone is... just us. We are the only people helping anyone. So in lieu of help, you have to take things at proverbial gunpoint. This is my reasoning on this.

You can argue say 'oh you shouldn't landlord because landlord bad' but the reality is housing is cheaper than commercial space (so you can exploit a business entity instead, and by proxy its workers) and housing has the dual use of: 1. a financial asset that can expand itself through exploitative passive income and 2. once it is paid for its paid for and can be emptied of occupants to fill with trans people.

I have a lot of thoughts on this, but the reality is trans people are dropping like flies at a much higher rate than cis people who have traditional support structures like families, churches, and homeless shelters. Most trans people dont have those in their corner. We can and have raised a ruckus about trans genocide in our community, but nothing happened as a result. The way I see it, trans people will be at the forefront of the revolution and will have no one behind them and will be crushed due to the current state of things. If it goes any further we'll all be dead and the cis libs will play the smallest violin for us as they continue their meager existence.

  • Good point

  • Do a crypto rug pull or open a liquor store or something.

I mean this is probably a good idea, we've also been considering buying commercial space (maybe a mixed commercial residential space idk if that even exists here) to fund it. Exploiting a jet ski store does go down smoother. I was hoping for a more numerical analysis from someone on what the best course to do is but very few people are handling trans commune shit rn we're all like astronauts

Basically I'm at the point where we can expand things but we can't take out a ton of loans, it needs to be paid down somehow beyond what we make currently.

  • Like you realize the WASP nuclear family is probably the least likely demographic to be renting, right?

I don't care about cis people. Maybe some queers are ok, but the vast majority of people stand by and watch trans people suffer. I could see offering 'nicer' housing to attract white techbros though

  • also there are communities / communes / compounds that are owned wholly by trans people for the benefit of trans people, what you’re looking for might already exist, and importantly they’re fighting the good fight on top of it all

It's me, I do that. But the reality is this is wholly inadequate, you need more money so you can expand to meet the sheer mass of trans people going homeless right now. Donations don't cut it you need much more to keep it going

  • Pretty good logic, but what can I say trans people are simply more important than cis people to me. Doesn't matter their country, but the reality is its much easier to deal with things in person than online which is what helping trans people in the global south would entail.

  • It'd be awesome if they were but frankly I don't care, trans people don't even have a place in a homeless shelter or a church here, cis people can survive through that or family contacts.

  • If this is how you feel, you need to organize. If you’re already organizing and this is how you feel where you live, you need to find somewhere new to organize. You don’t fight white capitalism with black capitalism, and you don’t fight cishet capitalism with rainbow capitalism. Organize, you’ll meet the most wonderful people you’ve ever met

I organize every day as a result of housing trans people incl with some people here. The reality is the situation is dire for trans people, "organizing" is hopeless. Moving somewhere else is hilarious to me, you don't even live in the same world. Trans people are rejected from homeless shelters here they usually die when they get kicked out, this is particularly true for black trans women. This is genuinely the only way I can think of handling the logistics for housing enough to sate the demand caused by cis psychoes torturing their kids. Write your idealistic polemics all you want, the reality is any delay ("organizing") means more dead trans people. This is all a hypothetical anyways, I need to talk with some trans people I know in finance to come up with some scheme to expand this in a less shit way, I mostly wanted to hear from trans people on the absolute worst case scenario (being the worst person ever on purpose to house trans people in a linear growth sort of way). But I was hoping for more of a Marxian analysis (e.g. I want numbers for why this won't work) not just people posting tenants of communism 101 theory slop.

  • Not to mention the stunning lack of self-awareness. People like you fail to see the glaring contradictions: “I’m a communist who wants to be a landlord. I’ll fight discrimination by discriminating. I’ll build community by creating slums. I’ll help the homeless by making other people homeless.” This thread is a masterclass in unexamined privilege. You, Marcy, have the privilege to fantasize about wielding exploitative power from a position of assumed moral superiority

🙄 I get it you know jack shit about the state of the trans community. Every other week I hear of a contact I know dying, but this would be solved by being able to afford housing for them. My current place is jam packed.

    Are you trans?

  • I'm more concerned about after the original purchase, the goal would be to rapidly expand the operation to essentially solve trans homelessness in the city I'm in.

  • There's a dozen ways around this I feel because of racists, like I could donate it to a charity I also own and say that it's a trans benefit charity and then have it "pay" me back the reduced rate each month. This is kinda how nearly every church functions, the church is controlled by the pastor who has a tax free house paid for by the church on the same lot as the church.

  • Could have the company name mention it's trans e.g Transgender Housing Authority to see if anyone says anything. Frankly I don't care if something is illegal I care about if it interferes with what I'm doing, landlords rarely get touched on these things

  • I mean I feel the obvious thing is to mention rent goes to a trans charity on the rental agreement or something. If anyone comments they're trans do a sneaky reduced rate or make it free.

  • Money paying for their food and healthcare and housing

  • I'm not saying it's the way to socialism, but it is definitely the way to less dead trans people
