Interesting! This is perhaps a bit more aggressive than I imagined my app to be, but I think Mikey is doing the people's work very well. After all, a car hitting me or my kids will statistically result in a death or at least severe injury. Cars are weapons and I can no longer pretend that I'm not concerned for our safety, especially with me being the primary breadwinner in my family.
But what if there is no social aspect to it? I'm not looking to code a social media app. I just want to have a database of reckless/dangerous drivers. I think it would be especially helpful if/when they crust an accident. Especially if it's a fatal one, though hopefully not of course. It's just that pedestrian deaths continue to go up and I'm afraid for everyone's safety, my own and my family's included. I have kids and it's one of my worst nightmares. I feel a strong desire to try to do something about it.
If I were to pass on the info to local representatives, wouldn't I still need to gather the data that I'm looking to collect in the first place? (Non anonymized)?
By this logic, wouldn't the app/community still be a good idea? Or are you suggesting maybe just a database where community members can submit the evidence of dangerous driving/drivers?
Realistically, you cannot remember which driver is which while riding, so doxing provides nothing of value.
But we wouldn't have to remember, since it's documented? Unless I misunderstood. And if there are repeat offenders, it is definitely easier to recognize and identify them by car and or some portion of their licence plate.
And flooding law enforcement with evidence is really the only way to fix things, only they have the power to do something.
That's great... In the united states, law enforcement isn't exactly healthy right now. And they are very hostile towards bikes/skates/pedestrians. They always side with the car at fault.
