  • Thank you! Optimizing for screen readers makes total sense, and I hadn’t considered command line text-only browsers before but I will def. look into how this could support them better in the future

  • Fair enough. I’ll circle back if/when I add ActivityPub support. Appreciate you checking it out anyway.

  • I do plan on making it open-source once it’s a bit more polished and stable. Right now it’s still an early build, so I’m keeping things simple.

As for "text-based", I meant it in the sense of content type (text-only posts, no images/videos) that is just focused on minimal text posting/discussion.

  • Lol, didn’t see that coming. Thanks for pointing it out tho. The name might change anyway, but I’m glad you dig the concept!

  • Nooki isn’t federated right now. I mainly posted here because I figured folks who care about alternatives might have valuable thoughts on a minimal text-based one. I am personally interested in both ActivityPub and AT Protocol down the line, but I get if this is off-topic.

  • I get why it might come across that way. My intention wasn’t to compete with Lemmy or take away from it. Federation is powerful, but it also adds a lot of moving parts. My goal with Nooki is to quickly experiment with the feel of a lightweight, text-first Reddit-style space. If it sticks, I would be very open to adopting federation standards. I’m personally interested in both ActivityPub and AT Protocol.
