I like music and computers.

  • VIM is waaaaaaaaay more powerful and faster than nano. I personally use VIM motions in emacs. That’s how efficient I find them.

  • Matrix, can easily do the above.

  • I use synapse. I set it up using docker, and the rest manually. There’s an easy ansible installer available.

  • Only as image in a hypervisor for pentesting.

  • Matrix.

  • Why not use time shift?

  • ..why not just install KDE in arch?

  • What feature are you looking forward to in a 2.0 release? You know that “matrix 2.0” is already implemented, right? What is the issue with the clients as of now that makes them not nature enough?

  • Looks like the pictures are also AI generated?

  • Audio/screensharing: But that’s just not true? Matrix has perfect voice and screen sharing. We tried it a while ago, and it worked better than, if not as good as discord.

  • Can you explain which features are missing for you?

  • But my other group that hangs out in there async every day and the occasionally jumps onto an ad-hoc voice chat when people are available to game, or sometimes shares my screen so someone else can watch what I’m doing? None of those things do that.

    …but Matrix does that.

  • James Hetfield. “Are we going to die?” “YEAH!”

  • I meant PC. Sorry, I forget that consoles exist…

  • It really is excellent. Performance however is really questionable.

  • Smart home shouldn’t be prebuilt. One has to build it themselves so it matches their use case. One should optimally also not need 10 apps to run a home. I do everything using Home Assistant App.

I am also a firm believer that every smart device should have a physical override. If it doesn’t, then I am personally not interested. If it only works via app, then it has an expiry date.

  • It is no more clunky than discord was a couple years ago. Setting up a server is very clunky, but the average Joe doesn’t have to do it.

  • It really is no different than discord. You create an account, download the client, log in and that’s that. You don’t have to self host it or use any instance that isn’t the main instance. Just go to matrix.org and sign up.

  • In element there’s a button on top of the chat. I press that and it’s calling.
