Idk, that's a piefed glitch, if you create an account your can get past it, sometimes you can get past it without an account, try the desktop version of the site it might let you past it, I'll mention it to the dev, several people are having issues, especially on mobile
I plan to set up the accounts related to the site to be accessible by other admins, I’ll probably host a password manager on the site’s server, or maybe just create an account one of the popular ones, with relevant credentials in it. That way if something happens and I disappear they can just login and take over. That’s part of why I’m actively recruiting admins.
As far as cost goes FOR NOW I can fully afford the cost of the server without donations, as far as I can tell at least. Currently the donations are just set to go into my personal account, but I would love to get to the point where we can set something up like or maybe joining the fedihosting foundation and have a pool of donations accessible without me.
Posting on this account because something is wonky with posts before today in regards to federation.
Sorry about that, piefed has a checkbox that automatically posts to this community when you create a community, I've mentioned it to him so he can uncheck it from now on.
The nsfw button is also now set to on automatically on the instance.
He told me that he's happy to give those to other people if someone requests a community, but yeah he could have just made a few and let other people make them, but these will most likely get transferred to other people in time, most of the ones he re-created were at least semi popular.
Lemmynsfw admin here, partially my fault but mostly not.
The other admin owned the server and the domain, suddenly he stopped responding, I started getting concerned and shit you not before all this happened I was planning on making a backup the weekend AFTER the site went down. But of course that never happened. That's the part that's my fault, I should have been backing things up ages ago.
The server is down, and I had access to the server, but not the platform it's hosted on. One day the server just... turned off. Other admin isn't responding and I have no way to get the data from the site.
I have access to, but don't own the domain. So the plan now is to look into other hosting options, like the fedihost beta program, and spin up a Lemmy and/or piefed instance and redirect from the old domain to a new one I own. But yeah unfortunately it looks like the site as it was is dead :(
