  • As I've already replied elsewhere where you(?)'ve also spammed this comment, Trump doesn't have friends.

Trump has parasites who take advantage of his stupidity, narcissism, and pettiness, and now also his dementia. And I suppose at some point, before he was so far gone, he might have had marks he was talking advantage of.

He's psychologically incapable of friendship; he'll betray anyone without a second thought the instant they're no longer of benefit to him, or someone convinces him to, which these days doesn't take much effort.

And he'll die before (knowingly) helping anyone for free.

If he can't give Trump something shiny enough, Maduro is fucked, no matter how much of a friend he might believe him to be.

  • I'll reply the same I replied to your other comment with the same text:

  • It's the same level of "hallucinations" as always, that is, zero.

This isn't hallucinating (LLMs don't have a mind, they aren't capable of hallucinating, or any other form of thought), this is working as intended.

These things will tell you whatever you want to hear, their purpose isn't to provide information, it's to create addiction, to keep the customer engaged and paying as long as possible, regardless of consequences.

The induced psychosis and brain damage is a feature, not a bug, since it makes the victim more dependent on the LLM, and the cartel selling access to it.

Given the costs, and the amount of money already burnt building them, these companies need to hook as many people as possible as fast as possible, and get them addicted enough that when they raise the prices 100X to a sustainable level their victims won't be able to leave.

And they need to do this fast, because the money is running out.

  • In my experience having to use the terminal also applies to windows.

If you haven't had to at least use sfc /scannow to fix the OS having randomly microsofted to shit I assume you're not regularly using windows...

Also everything being where you least expect it. Did the program install to Program Files\program, Program Files\publisher\program, Program Files (x86)\program, Program Files (x86)\publisher\program, Program Files\Common Files\program, Program Files\Common Files\publisher\program, Program Files (x86)\Common Files\program, Program Files (x86)\Common Files\publisher\program, %appdata%\program, %appdata%\publisher\program, %localappdata%\program, %licalappdata%\publisher\program, C:\program..?Are the files somewhere in My Documents? In the program's installation folder? Somewhere in %appdata%? On the desktop? Kidnapped by OneDrive because you forgot to opt out of the “backup” that deletes your system folders and moves them to the cloud, only to immediately complain that you're using too much space and have to pay a ransom to access them? Windows search certainly won't help you find them, though it might give you similarly named bing results...

And let's not forget about system configuration... is the setting you're looking for on the new settings app, the control panel, the registry, group policies, some weird powershell incantation, the task manager's startup section (!?), the task scheduler, the services manager, the device manager, the computer manager, the disk manager, the old msconfig tool, some random contextual menu, some random management console add-on, some old forgotten executable or cpl in System32 (did you know the old windows 3.11 dialer is still there)..?For every one of those options you're almost guaranteed to find at least one or two settings that can only be configured through that particular tool, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some...

  • Same here. Old PC (though quite good for the time), no issues whatsoever.

  • It really takes a special kind of (lack of) talent to manage to be such a colossal loser while being the wealthiest man alive.

  • Heh. They reminded me of these three goofs:

  • The most horrific part, is that we can't tell the difference.

Controlled by LLMs or not, their actions would be indistinguishable.

  • We're talking execs here, not people.

Of course they've got smart people they're still in the process of getting rid of, but they're not who the OP was asking about, and they're mostly irrelevant anyway (and have been since long before LLMs became a problem), since they're not the ones making decisions.

(Even when talking about smart people, though, being smart about certain things doesn't mean they're immune to LLMs. If those things are good at anything it's catfishing people into believing they're actually intelligent and useful for something, and many a smart developer or scientist involved in their development has fallen for their stochastic bullshit. And once the brain damage has set in it appears to be quite permanent.)

  • As a scientist, he knew to do his field work.

I'm sure he made sure to have a good sample size to support that quote.

  • It's a tool for killing people.

That's not a good or reasonable purpose for a tool, sure, but it doesn't make it less of a tool, it just makes it morally abhorrent.

  • The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever: So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one. And as in the dark all Cats are grey, the Pleasure of corporal Enjoyment with an old Woman is at least equal, and frequently superior, every Knack being by Practice capable of Improvement.

  • No. They're drinking their own coolaid.

They've offloaded what little thinking they did to LLMs (not that LLMs can think, but in this case it makes no difference), and at this point would no longer be able to function if they had to think for themselves.

Don't think of them as human people with human needs.

They're mere parasites, all higher functions withered away through lack of use, now more than ever.

They could die and be replaced by their chatbots, and we wouldn't notice a difference.

  • It doesn't work like that.

We're not supposed to be able to jump through the flaming hoops.

They're too far apart, too narrow, they keep moving, and we're forced to wear a blindfold.

    We're supposed to get burnt.

Meanwhile, “the right kind of people” don't have to jump through the hoops, and laugh while watching us burn, without realising that the definition of “right kind of people” keeps getting more and more narrow, and that soon it might be them getting broiled on the hoops.

  • Not like Star Trek, though.

That's just a scanner connected to a fancy 3D printer, which murders the original after scanning for no apparent reason.

Give me something that actually takes me from point A to point B without murdering or harming me in the process.
