  • They've got a pretty long to-do list for here before they start looking your way. Keep an eye out for your own home-grown ones though.

  • Save the Oxford Comma!

  • Yeah, it's also easy to pay for several months ahead at a time, and they don't keep your personal info.

  • I went with Posteo and have been happy with it. The only meaningful advantage of Tutanova and Proton that I'm aware of is the encryption, but that only works if the person you're communicating with also uses their service, so I figure what's the point? I've also heard of various problems people have had with with both of them. And, at least at the time I checked, you had to use a browser or electron interface to access them though their own UI. With Posteo I added the account to Thunderbird and I access it through SMTP via TB's mechanisms (e.g. auto-checking every X minutes and popping up a system notification when there's a new email) just like with my other email account.

  • The whole point of these people is to manage things.

Let me fix that for you: In a democracy, the whole point of these people is would be to manage things.

There is obviously a fundamental flaw in this system.

    Ya think?

  • Exactly this, and the rest that's coming, and all the horrors that will be discovered to have happened when/if this ever ends.

  • Reading the comments, and disregarding that Ventura was just making a point and not seriously suggesting secession, it seems that people are assuming that Minnesota would simply join Canada as a single unit with the current population as it is.

Obviously that's not what would happen. Canada wouldn't be getting a 47%-magat population in the deal. First, those people wouldn't want to secede or go to Canada. They would move to another state before they'd let that happen. Second, Canada wouldn't just let anyone in just because they were from Minnesota. They'd screen them and decide who to let in. Plus there would be USians from other states trying to move to Minnesota to get in on it. It would be chaotic and messy. Who knows how or if they'd even be able to make it work.

A more likely scenario would be some states seceding, a civil war and major population redistribution, then in the aftermath depending on if the seceding states won independence, maybe a deal with some of them would be made to be annexed by Canada. Or maybe negotiations with certain states would take place during the war regarding future annexation, and Canada might even help them in the war. Who knows.

  • Well, maybe not a surprise party, he might not react well to surprises.

  • Wyden "wants answers"? Here's your answer: Are you still sailing down De river Nial? Look into the Don's pig-like eyes. He is the captain now, in control of the government and supported by the majority political party, his own private army, and the corrupt SCOTUS majority he set up in his first term.

Haven't you noticed, Wyden? Anyone who ever opposed him, ever made fun of him, or isn't going along with him is either being "investigated" or arrested and charged with made up crimes (if a lib) or ousted from their positions of power and threatened with worse (if a repub), not to mention getting mentioned in mean tweets that mobilize his minions to go after them. It's Pay to Play now (in gold is always a nice touch).

The last shreds of the Constitution were thrown out on January 20th, 2025. There are no rules, laws are decreed by the Boss, subject to change at a whim, and only the rest of us are required to follow them.

Choose your Side. Whining is not a strategy. If that's all you can do, get out and make room for someone with a spine.

  • Aww, ICE ICE Barbie, is Daddy mad at you?

  • I've always said all legislators should be required to walk through the aftermath of an event like sandy Hook or Uvalde before they are allowed to vote on gun legislation. And while I understand why parents would never want video of that made available to the public, I also think it would make a huge difference in public opinion if it was--that's why I say at least the lawmakers should have to see it (and sight isn't the only sense of it they'd never forget).

  • Maga core beliefs go out the window the minute trump says something different. Remember how they were against miltary intervention in foreign countries, especially in the middle east? Well now they're gung-ho for it. They're singing that Barbara Ann/bomnb Iran song on the conservative forums right now. There's a little grumbling from a few of them about trump and minions saying you can't take your guns to protests, but most are already rationalizing it (because it's the 'libtards' getting shot for it). Pretty soon they'll all be cheering on the Big Beautiful Gun Roundup.

  • The idea is to slow or stop economic activity, so it's most effective when it's those who work in business or industry. Jobs helping the community are ... helping the community, which is also a value to uphold. So yeah not spending any money is still contributing to the goal.

  • He raised his own voice a couple of octaves when he said that. "You raise your voice?"

  • And I wouldn't give them my info whether it's an op or not. The No Kings/Indivisible have a sign-up thing too, and I wouldn't give them my info either.

It's one thing if you personally meet organizers and exchange phone numbers or something, and another thing to put your name and other personal info into someone's internet-accessible database where you have no idea what may happen with it.

  • Well, she trusted the snow leopard.

  • “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous,” Homan said.

Wow. That is a direct threat to kill protesters. That's when we hear their names is when ICE kills them.

  • Well I would be one of those noobs, not having used signal or the like before. :) Camera app--are invites done via a QR code then? And we don't use FB or any of that poison. I doubt I can get anyone to try it out anyway, but good to know about it just in case. Use case would be either an old no-sim phone or android tablet connecting to wifi or wifi hotspot, and/or a laptop/desktop from home.
