  • None. I don't have any blocked and it's been fine.

  • Opening outlook, checking my email, closing outlook. Repeat.

    Also weed and lemmy

  • Many Lemmy instances block lemmygrad.ml and spread what I think is misinformation about the people here.

I am grateful for the wide mix of news regarding this conflict from all sources, which I don't see on communities hosted by other mainstream instances.

Without this, I feel others are missing the full picture. Thank you.

  • Yeah this is only a win if you don't play those games. Unfortunately these games are intensely popular and the lack of compatibility stunts the popularity of Linux. I expect there is a similar anti-meme of this list titled "why I'll never install Linux"

  • I was confused about this. Then I remembered that torrenting exists in the *arr world.

  • I think your opening statement is getting you down votes.

This tech isn't aimed at consumers, it is for business users where the business has decided to deploy remote windows servers for their employees.

I wouldn't want one of these as a daily home pc.

  • Fuck Lloyds UK and all their subsidiaries. None of them work on grapheneos

  • As a household including members that are deaf I think Netflix will pass muster at least for the subtitles part of the requirements.

Back when cable/satellite television was popular, only mainstream channels offered subtitles as they met the threshold for this legislation. The majority of channels had no or spotty subtitles cover.

In comes Netflix and everything has subtitles. My wife and I were transformed from requiring to pirate our favourite shows to being able to put down the pirate hat and be legit.

Obviously this didn't last long due to the splintering of streaming services so the pirate hat is firmly back on, but the subtitles on Netflix are consistently of good quality. So much so that my deaf wife prefers to use Netflix.

  • The pip library of modules is many times larger than those available in the distro repo.

  • Same! However I'm starting to find there is now a lot more content and I could actually start using joined communities instead of /all

  • There is a lease, but the current law allows the landlord to end it early with 1 or 2 months notice. That is ending in May.

  • Every bios I've used has 2 sets of certificates built in. The default one is the Microsoft production certificate and the Linux bootloader doesn't match. But their should be another certificate for open source systems that will work.

  • Secureboot uses certificates to verify integrity. The user is able to install new certificates. So I'd say it is the user? I'm not an expert though and their may be hardware out there that doesn't allow new certificates.

  • I will repeat it. Roblox is not a daycare. If you want your kids to go online and play games, then supervise them.

Sorry but the ipad isn’t a fucking pacifier. If you want to leave your children unhindered on the internet, Roblox or whatever, then that's on you. If you aren't looking after your child’s well-being, then don't expect some game to do that for you.

The mental gymnastics people put to place the blame firmly on online games is maddening. I expect those who disagree also let their kids run around the supermarket unsupervised.

  • It's this type of thinking that is pushing the "but the kids" rhetoric seemingly world wide.

We either have a free, open and anonymous internet.... or a dystopian identity-required-at-every-point-of-access, heavily moderated, hellscape.

The internet isn't a daycare, the parents should be playing with them or close by at all times.
