  • The OSs are android in the bottom yes. But not including google services. They are based on AOSP and that is no bad thing. If every car maker would have to develop their own kernel and OS we would have even less features and way more buggy systems. These companies just want to build cars, most of them are already dragging their feet when it comes to digitalisation and qualitative software experiences

  • There are loads of good electric cars coming out right now, both with android and not, both chinease and European.

    To list a few:

    • Renault 5
    • Lynk & co 02
    • Ford Capri
    • Polestar 4
    • Volvo EX 30 & 90
    • Volkswagen ID (multiple models)
    • Zeekr 007
    • Mercedes

    The Volkswagen Group uses their in house infotainmentsystem developed by cariad, while most chinease brands uses their in house ones as well. Volvo, Polestar and Renault uses android.

  • My house was built as a summer cabin 1935. Then someone added a 2nd floor on top of it 1970. It then got winter isolated (for year round living) in 2006.

  • That's a sober take. I am affected running a 1070. But I don't expect 10 years of drivers for an OS that makes out at most a few percent of the total.

    If we look at steam survey. The 1070 is at like 0.78% of all Linux installs. While Linux as a whole is at 2.69%.

    So less that 1% of less that 3%. Yeah, I would also kill support for that nieche

  • As a Swede i think your system in the Netherlands sounds so foreign. When I was in school we always had 2 hot meals to chose between and a 'salad bar's. All paid for by the tax system. No one should ever be forced to go hungry imo.
