  • Para ser justos, hay bastante espacio de soluciones entre la solución fácil y la difícil. Después de todo, la educación toma generaciones.

    Por ejemplo, una persona que esté dispuesta a hacer lo mismo que el justiciero que se parece a Luigi mangione podría, con un par de balas, amedrentar a las grandes empresas hacia liberar las llaves de relock así como el justiciero en cuestión amedrentó a UHC para deshacer su cambio en los cobros de seguros de salud. Y de paso inspira a más justicieros en el mundo, que hacen falta.

  • Sería bueno el problema es los tiempos y precios que habría que esperar. Porque no creo que el Moto GG (Moto G + Graphene) venga con jack de 3.5” y un precio estelar de CLP$250.000.

    Soy partidario que lo que debería apuntar Graphene, o cualquier asociación que quiera mejorar estos convenios, es que los fabricantes liberen las llaves de relock del firmware de los teléfonos que ya sacaron de stock, de modo que la gente que ya está usando teléfono usado pueda mejorar su experiencia con ej.: Lineage hasta que llegue el punto que puedan en buenos términos optar a un Moto GG.

  • I mean, from that perspective, sure. But if the main concern is lack of storage, SSDs currently are of no help with that compared to HDDs (let alone with production being shifted over to serve AIs and datacenters).

    Perhaps a dual SSD solution, but still would have to be planned with the potential outcome of either upgrading one of the SSDs or add a third one.

  • Hmmm this would have sounded interesting if it didn't require releasing new phones. I don't think Motorola is going to release their next phone within a $200-$300 price range. As it stands, this is marginally better than yet another "ponzi your VS funding on the privacy community" scheme.

    What would be useful, if they now have a partnership going, would be to convince Motorola to release the relock keys / firmware fixes for the bootloaders of some models that are no longer in production but are affordable and useful in the secondhand market. In particular, models that see good support from eg.: Lineage. Much easier to start a road towards better privacy and freer systems if it's feasible on hardware you already have, after all.
