  • I don't know where you are at, but if you have a suit just contact the rigger from the post. They have tied so many over the years and seem pretty open to tying those who contact.

  • Changing handles is a common feature on websites, and request on those that don't. There are probably good arguments for both from both usability and technical standpoints. FA doesn't support changing names, its been a request for many years at this point. Weasyl allows you to change, and the most recent old name will redirect. I know SF and IB both allow name changes, but I don't remember the details, I think one had a previously known as label that could be shown. You can't allow perpetually holding a name, I can think of many malicious ways to abuse that. Bluesky has the did for perpetual static links, it doesn't change because that is what all the data is really tied to, the handle is just a nicety.

  • regarding your edit, from the linktree, its still their handle on the site I will not mention, its also their linktree handle. Blueksky works on something called did, so the permalink to this post no matter what the handle is would be https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:r3b2zyqri7sbgp5ubghm74lv/post/3lm56q5qx3c2y the post id works, so they probably just changed handles to their personal site, its pretty easy to do.

  • The flow I hear about when people talk about passkeys is sign up with email. Code gets sent to email. Code is entered, passkey gets generated. There always seems to be some similar step that looks like that, and often you have new device or reset that looks the same. Sure the passkey itself is secure, but how do you get it, how do you generate it, how do you validate the first time?

  • I think they are being pushed because cool technology on paper. Whenever I read an article about them, I can't help but think about the human factors. How are passkeys created, often by a password or email. okay... that looks a lot like a password. Oh you lost the passkey, here lets send you one again. It stinks of a second factor without a first. Sure, the passkey itself is hard to compromise, but how about its creation. If your email is compromised I see no difference from passwords or passkeys.

  • BUG!!!

  • From the article, the claim is worry about drugs from Canada.

  • Just by the way, the artist has been going by Tirrel for many years now.

  • Instructions unclear, commenting.

  • (From a US perspective) It would be good. As an analog, take a look at patents, the surge in 3d printer tech is because the patents expired. The idea is a "limited exclusivity", the permanent nature it has become is stagnating, and only there to benefit the corporate rather than personal nature that the system was designed for.

  • The link looks right in plain text, but its broken in the markdown. https://pawb.social/post/kaburion.tumblr.com/post/751139395512532992/encountered-this-meme-today-and-couldnt-resist is what shows up for me.

  • I forgot about it.

  • That many? Also, their accounts seem to always match display name and username. None of these usernames match the display name. I also know there is someone around who really hates them.

  • yep, that matches better.

  • ... but the administration would steer it instead towards being more focused on operational weather forecasting and warning responsibilities.

Even for self serving goals and ignoring the future, don't you need accurate climate models to accurately forecast the weather and issue warnings?

  • There are a couple as I see it. You have the religious fundamentalists, I think this is mainly seen in the rules and court cases allowing people to be asses backed by religion. They also are trying to push their ideas nationwide, this is at odds sometimes with the next group. You have the anti-federalists, to them anything the federal government does is evil (especially if its not their rules). This is the ripping out of all the federal departments. They don't see any good coming from them. Any tax is theft, and any money spent is wasted. (military excluded). The third group is similar to group 2, but they are just anti-regulation. "the free market will figure it out". Now I don't think any of these groups have good ideas, but the only reason they are doing what they are doing is because they have ideas and have been working on it for a long time.
