  • Nice thing would be to have a structured way to clearly present differences between communities of same name. Eg. possibility to link (in machine readable way) in sidebar to other communities and mark them as pure duplicates, or state the actual difference. This information could show also in search and crosspoting dialog.

  • Technically yes. The problem would be how to decide which community put in spotlight and which in grey (or any other meaningful distinction). Would it be automatic (if yes, how to decide the algorithm), or manual (if yes, how to decide how to left them). These things can be discussed out and solved, but we should be aware that these questions are here.

And it would work only for real duplicates of communities, not healthy separated communities based on actual, conscious and cherished differences.

  • In fact, there is a problem of asymmetry of difficulty. It is much easier to start a new community, that dealing with existence of several separated communities. Especially as social solutions (eg in case that the communities are really about the same thing in the same way, asking all members to switch, so for newcomers it is easy to know which one is active and maintained).

  • Technically, I agree.

Practically, I myself have experienced several fragmented communities about the same topic with similar ethos. This was not a healthy separation based on different norms. It was simple, ineffective fragmentation. Or, at least the ethos and norms differences wasn't clear.

  • Those developed nations, line Germany, France and Austria, got understood it before most of humankind.

Btw, Europe as a continent is paying 1 BILLION euros every month just for MS Office fees... It's time to redirect that money to support societal development, including libre software.

  • They have mentioned one time payment for supporting the software. Well, not recurrent, so it does not built stability, but at least something.

  • And progressives and liberals need to start really listen to conservatives and include their perceived needs in the common politics.

  • Bad day to be a snake.

  • I don't know with whom you interact in Mastodon, but this in definitely not my experience there.

  • Ah, it looked interesting but then I have learned that their operating system, Sailfish OS, is non-free 😥 I would rather use LineageOS or GrapheneOS - to protect my freedom.

  • Strategies for engineered negligible senescence (SENS) is a framework conceived by the biogerontologist Dr. Aubrey de Grey. It classifies aging damage into couple of categories based off their similarities in a way that same kind of therapy (with some modification here and there) can be used too treat all problems in the category. Eg. cell loss (one of the categories) can be treated by stem cell therapy, but the precise procedure may be different when it comes to skin cells and heart cells.

There were attempts to take the framework down but they failed from scientific point of view. They were mostly value statements masquerading as science, or strong claims with no evidence.

  • BTW, you could read my abstract about this topic in the collection from the 23rd International Medical Esperanto Congress 2025 (IMEC / IMEK) after it is published.

Everyone with whom I have discussed it during the congress or led a presentation was fine about the basic principles presented. And many people was perplexed by many facts from the field. Eg. that if we would cure every cancer right now, life expectancy would rise just by around 3 years.

There are many contraintuitive stuff about aging, so we need to discuss it more even to spread current understanding to more people that are involved in some way (like, people who experience aging, so everyone).

  • Thanks for your service 🙏

Do you know what is the single biggest risk factor for mortality globally, and especially in developed countries?

  • Many more governed could and should inspire!

  • I perceive that the ground is prepared well enough for many of those to just stay. And contribute a bit.

  • Muskodon 🤣 Just kidding.

  • Yeah. He only place of F-35 in Europe should be in museums.

  • Great done! We can take inspiration! In Slovakia, the government pays cca 17 millions euros per year for MS stuff, so comparable in span.

  • Legit. You can trust me because I checked it personally 🤪
