That’s it, that’s the problem. You talked to another distribution while still using the previous one. Yous lost your wife’s trust, then it was over.
Couldn’t agree more on that. Unfortunately, I work in a place where it’s definitively not the way of thinking. We (we, being the factory in general, I’m not an executive, Those decisions are way above my responsibilities ) made way worst decision than that to ruin customer relationship since that…
Where I work, customers used to ask us for fuses. We didn’t want to sell them as they cost nothing, and it bothered us to have stocks of this… So, the decision was made to put a crazy high price on it (like 100 times the price of a fuse )… Some customers still ask to buy fuses from us …
Apple probably doesn’t want to sell spare parts(to discourage people to repair their devices, or another reason), but they may be forced to do it, so they put crazy prices on it.
A dick move, but "hey, as long as it works ! "
Open Mandriva would have been better here.
I have a Fairphone 5 on CalyxOS. I find it smooth and reactive. Were the reports talking about phones on fairphone ROM ? I’ve used it a few second before switching … It is bloated with so much google apps, it’s insane.
I have to use a Gcam port to have a good camera experience. I would have liked a better battery life (it lasts a whole day minimum).
Overall, I’m happy with it.

There’s Mageia and openMandriva from France !
PikaOS is from UK I guess.
It’s hard to enumerate all of arch based distro but CachyOS is German (not sure ), and archolinux is from belgium.
Europe work on open source in general is strong, I love it !
Listen to “lady of the dark” from Sabaton, you’ll automatically create a woman character named Milunka whatever gender you are.
You’ll be fully immersed and you’ll feel Serbian even if you’re from another country !
Just a precision : Aigle has some manufacturing locations in asia (China, Viet nam) Source : their web site. You can click on traceability options on the product you select and see where there are produced.
Saw these in a post I wasn’t able to find again :
first time I used my fp5, i was shocked by the amount of google apps installed. I immediately turned it off and change for a degoogled ROM .
Until you can use /e/OS, If you do not use a VPN, I can recommand you to use blokada to limit the trackers and ads. Blokada 5 is free, blokada 4 is free and allows you to choose a custom DNS.
I didn’t know about lichess. There is an application on android, both on play store and f-droid. This app is amazing !
Thanks for the discovery !
I had to change the USB port from my Oneplus 7, after 4 years of use. I changed the USB port, the battery and the back cover (seriously using glass for that…). Oneplus didn’t sell spare parts for it anymore, I had to buy them from aliexpress.
One year later, the USB port died again, the back cover too, without dropping the phone…
I bought a fairphone after that. No more struggle to find spare parts, or with the back cover, I hope I’m fine for a looong time.
Un jour…
The signature and the random updates issues can be solved (partially) by using the izzyondroid repo. A lot of the applications on fdroid are on it. It compiles from sources, doesn’t change signatures, and fetch updates on a daily basis.
It doesn’t solve all the issues, but it can help
