    Can we? Is this a statement of fact, or is this just wishful thinking on your part? Because I know quite a bit about history and, time and time again this doesn't seem to be true whatsoever. We are tribalistic by nature, and we've never been able to permanently break this fact.

    It's not appealing to tribalism, it's understanding of the factual nature of ourselves. You have to know the worst of humanity, because you're never going to rid yourself of it. Many things will knock us down as people to our most basic of instincts, and these basic rules still govern our actions.

    I happen to live in the real world, not some idealistic utopia of what the world "could be".

  • We're not talking about the politicians here, we're talking about individuals in society who aren't responsible for the things you point out. Normal people who visit Lemmy.

    Nobody is calling anyone communist, it was used as an anchor point for the reference in the political spectrum. Hell, the word communist wasn't even used, you're putting words into my mouth.

    The word "Nazi" has been devalued so much because of how easily the word is thrown around. It's slapped onto anyone and everyone who doesn't agree with wildly out of touch values commonly put forth on Lemmy.

    Politics isn't black and white. It's not even a fucking spectrum. It's a multi-thorned spider graph with an incredible number of facets surrounding everything from Employment, to Belief Systems, to Social Safety, and many other things. To immediately label anyone and everyone who doesn't hit FULL FUCKING TILT on all of your issues a "Nazi" just means you're not mature enough to have an adult conversation about the topic and that you're living in a bubble of unreality.

    We have more in common than we disagree on. The first step is not throwing a tantrum like a god damn child.

  • eh...I'd try it. But knowing that kiwi gets really mushy, I don't suspect I'd enjoy it. It's the fibrous nature of pineapple which allows it to stay in-tact after cooking, and kiwi is just going to make a mushy spot.

  • Sounds like you've just always gotten away with excuses instead of learning to admit you fucked up and owning it. Has nothing to do with ADHD and has more to do with showing personal responsibility.

    Instead of becoming defensive, learn to admit you fucked up and leave it at that. Apologize for fucking up, and ask for some help remembering if you're forgetting. Your partner is doing the right thing by communicating with you, and you need to do the right thing by admitting when you've fucked up, apologizing, and trying to fix it.

    Bro, this is not how relationships work. You need to step back and get a better perspective on the real world. Relationships are equal partnerships. They should generally make both partners better people, not suck the life out of one or the other.
